Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Time to cancel for good.

Downgraded our office account yesterday to the 1GB (basically a cancellation). I've lived with their subpar connectivity at the office because it's not on our primary ADSL circuit, it's now so bad I don't even want it for that.

On business uncapped - popped in here to see if I should rather go capped ....

Answer - same ISP, same problems ..

Seems AH has bigger issue than I thought, or than they are prepared to admit to.

Why don't you guys shove the speed upgrades and tweaks at 2am in the morning ? Would make more sense instead of like now

As much as we try to keep these types of changes during quiet times, to a certain degree we need to also be able to see how these changes affect client account performance, and how the network behaves with the software changes in affect.

For the love of Spock just reload the old software, the software used in June, before the "tweaking" and "optimizing" and "profile allocationing" and whatever-else-a-ning the boffins at Afrihost felt they had to do to "improve" the experience. It just seems to perpetually languish in this "monitoring" and "will improve soon" phase. Months and months of this mulberry bush skip and dance routine.

There is very little difference between the erratic rubbish internet on this account now and that during the iOS 8 update crunch. Spurts of usability drowned by complete and utter foobar.

Enough already!!! FFS

:(

I really wish it was that easy... I really do, but at this point we can only move forward, rolling back the software is not an option.

I'm enjoying reading the outright lies people are buying hook, line and sinker in this thread.

Outright lies? I know this seems difficult to believe, but I am quite certain I have never lied on this Forum? :(

And just what does "only move forward" actually mean?

Is THIS current 3 month experience the "moving forward"?

Something about this whole thing still just does-not-compute...

School holidays are almost upon us... any ETA of a lasting "fix" for this flusterkuk of total borked capped internet service?

Ye i doubt they lying, if anything this was not properly planned and due to the pressures of getting their systems back up to standard it was rushed. Thats my perception at least.

It means that Capped accounts running at 128Kb is now a feature so the problem is solved.

In stead of the old "It must just be your Telkom Port Sir, call Telkom" they can now say, "You must have reached your cap Sir, How much more Data would you like to purchase?"

40Mbit.

Can't even remember when last this account actually performed for more than one day in a row. I come home knowing that speeds will disgusting. The people managing your network need to be fired....

Latency on League of Legends is just too bad to play. This means 2 ISP's is useless with lol. Afrihost and Telkom. Best would be MTN LTE, IS based and Cybersmart.

After 3 years as an Afrihost client, I have jumped ship. I have been testing my new ISP for the last 2 months just to be 100% sure and have had 0 issues. You once were the best ISP in SA, but I just can't keep waiting on empty promises of a better tomorrow.

RIP pre-MTN Afrihost, I will miss you dearly...
