Better order another IPC upgrade AfriGenie, Thor is going to go download crazy this weekend, he just popped out to buy Red Bull and Coffee :)

Nooooooooo!!!!

:D

Enjoy Thor187! I know you have been waiting for this for a long time!

Did i misread something?

What i got from the last 2 pages is, say for instance you bought 50+50gb package, been using it for the past say 9 months. when the "double data" ends, new AND existing subscribers to this package will now fall back to 50gb only or have to pay more for 100GB?

It is still a bit early to say if the Double Data promotion will be continuing.

What I can say is this, if the Double Data expires, the monthly cost of your package will not change at all, the additional data may fall away, but you will not pay more unless you decide to take a larger package.

Any changes that we make to the Double Data will be communicated to you guys in depth and detail once the decision has been made.

That is SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!

Explain something to me peeps! I recently had a look at Telkom ADSL checker and my business line is good for 20mbps (currently running at 10mbps).

Does my router modulation type stay on ADSL_2plus? Or is 20mbps/40mbps VDSL only? And if it is VDSL what's the likelyhood that my current router is compatible? TP-Link 8970?

Yes. That's more or less whats happening. But it's a value add so it's all good :P

Honestly I'm quite disappointed as well. The 200 + 200gb at it's current price point was perfect for me now I have to either find a something else or pay more for it. Ugh.

In a nutshell if u paid R299 for 50+50 if the double data falls away u will still pay R299 for 50gb

Guys, I can't be more clear on this, Plus+ does not mean that Double Data is automatically coming to an end, the big guys haven't reached a decision on this matter yet. So just bear with us for a bit longer, you don't need to immediately rush off. :)

It will depend on whether or not you are connected to an Exchange that supports 20Mbps on ADSL2+ mode, I don't think the roll-out on this is as extensive as the VDSL. Shoot me a PM with your line number and I can try find out for you.

Wow. You have perfect line stats! Where do you live...I need to move.

They said you can't download the internet in a weekend.

Well my god am I going to put that to the test.

Just to be clear, if all that is left of Afrihost on Monday is a radioactive crater with a bunch of crying techies standing around it... Blame Thor187!!! ;)

You're a business. You want to make money. You've brought in product that could make us pay for what we are getting for free. This is how you make extra money.

Maybe I'm underestimating AH here but this is SA, these are types of things big companies do. :/

Makes sense, Just hope double data doesnt fall away :P or if it does, make it "more attractive" ;D

Thanks for the clarification

I understand the fear that we are out to stick it to our clients and to make a quick buck, but at the price point that we are launching Plus+ on, there isn't much money being made.

As much as want to keep Double Data going forever, we are not forcing you to pay to continue to receive it, we are just giving you an option to get Double Data if it were to end, as promotions to end at some point.

Yet another indication that Plus+ was a marketing blunder, an ill timed one at that.

taking the 100+100 account as an example that is R2 per Gig soon to become R4 per Gig.
Add R99 to keep the +100 you get R2.50 per Gig.

Assuming a 50% uptake on Plus+ It would have been better to scrap double data and charge R3 per gig going forward.
That way you also save on the cost to AF of the Mobile data and Simfy, and at the same time make yours the most competitive price on the market, with no gimmicks.

And what I'm trying to tell you is currently your capped account are so attractive because they are so simple and have so much value (in terms of size vs gb) and because you get what you get without strings. Now you're adding strings :/

These are the size caps people want.

Anyway kudos where it's due. The network has been pretty damn stellar these last few days. Keep it up!

I am glad you have seen an improvement on your connection, we are still keeping an eye on things to make sure they remain so.

Gian definitely never intended Plus+ to be an added string or complication, there will be additional communications over the coming days where Gian will try to engage with you guys to try to understand the reaction that Plus+ has gotten. The concerns you guys are raising are not unique, and it is definitely something that is being considered.
