How do you get your ups to last 2 hours? I would like this too. But as far as I can tell it is hellishly expensive.

Ooh for the guys that had slow or not working websites today. Apparently the USA was under heacly ddos attack which brought down some of the popular sites... i.e. Facebook and Instagram and I personally could not load hipchat at work.

I think they just tried that new configuration software on the Routers that Afrihost was trying late last year :)

It does not load, just does a pingtest. 52ms local, and 161 international.

That's horrible. Definitely not the norm though, so we'll need to troubleshoot with you to see what you might be experiencing.

What tests can you post here?

I logged 2 tickets (1 stating the 11th issue is still ongoing) and then another for the current issue.
I tried calling you guys on the 011 number, I push 1 till i'm blue in the face... nothing happens.
LIVE CHAT SUPPORT does not work.
TORRENTS with 9000 seeds is 1.0KB/s
Twitter is slow as hell
Facebook is slow as hell
EVEN MYBB is slow as hell.
I tried to do a SPEEDTEST as well, takes FOREVER to load that page.

Really sorry you are going through this.

It sounds to me like there could be a problem with your line. As you can see from the quietness on our MyBB threads, most users are getting pretty normal performance at the moment, so these kinds of speeds are not the norm.

Live Chat definitely should be working, when I tested it yesterday for a client, it was all hunky dory. I think they may not have full capacity after hours to handle as much volume, so you might be directed to the ticket submission screen.

Can you post some test results like a speedtest and traceroute? I don't like to work with torrents as an indicator, especially off a single file. My experience is that it's really hit and miss. I can sometimes saturate my line at home with multiple torrents to run at max, but it's not reliable. And on a single file, any factors affecting the file like the seeder's upload speed or limit on uploads could affect your speeds in downloading the file from him. It can sometimes come in at line speed, but the number of seeders is no guarantee of performance.

I got a 2kva UPS which lasts 1.5 hours, so I'm thinking about doubling it up :)

I wouldn't be surprised if these become cheaper. a few years ago a generator for your house was unheard of and crazy expensive. Now you can get some small gennies for under 10k.

Not 100% sure hey.

Yes, there is a PC (500W PSU (don't know if this is constant) and 24" LCD) and router.

I have another identical UPS for 40" LCD Sony, DSTV HDPVR and media player which lasts about the same time.

I opened them up and pulled the speaker off for my sanity :)

Busy testing my line to see if it can handle 10meg and got the msg saying the change has been completed however I'm still syncing at 4(router restart didn't help).

Am I on the 10meg profile and Telkoms system is limiting me or has the change not reflected yet?

There could be a few reasons that you aren't seeing 10Mbps on your ADSL line after your upgrade. Can you please send me the details so that I can look into this quickly.

So this is off topic... But maybe you guys can advise me. I asked Telkom to check if I am able to get 10mb line now after the upgrades made at my exchange. My router reports that my line is capable of 20mbps. Telkom ADSL checker says 10mbps is available in my area. Yet Telkom says no I can't get 10mbps. I would have thought they would be glad to get more money from me.

Thoughts?

It depends on the DSLAM card you're currently sitting on and what the DP can manage in terms of traffic. If your line's with us I can take a look at what the line itself is capable of?
