Websites seem to be okish, but i sent a PM to Afriguy on the 20th regarding packet loss issues I have been having in the evening. Was consistently happening every evening. Have not heard anything from him since.

I am having some minor issues with my main account, so I switched over to my Afrihost backup account for international gaming, only to discover even worse packet loss problems...

Same here, noticed it around about 11PM, but it is not just AH I have had it on 3 different ISP's including Telkom so it must be a backbone issue somewhere.

I am even struggling to open Google Drive Documents.

Nearly midnight anyway so I guess I may as well turn in.

I was experiencing a lot of latency on Battle.net on my side as well last night and on my test accounts as well, it did get better from 00h00 though.

How are your connections this morning?

Will check later. It does seem that there has been minor lag/packet loss issues across multiple ISPs recently. Might be a telkom network related issue.

Thanks!

Telkom has been implementing network wide upgrades replacing the Cisco routers at the Exchanges with new Huawei Broadband Network Gateways, I don't think this has been going as smoothly as expected as some points.

Hi afripeeps. I received an invoice for next month but from my understanding I was meant to be credited for incorrect billing this month. See reference number. [#VMP-285-16444]:

You definitely have the credit assigned to your account, however, you will still receive an invoice for each active product that you have with us. The credit on your account will offset any payments that are submitted, and only once the credit has been depleted will you actually be billed.

Problem with the packet loss is that some of us, use our connections mainly in the evening, and having packet loss at 21:30 in the evening and not being able to do anything about it doesn't help. I sent a PM to Afriguy last week Friday and posted test results from that evening, and have brought it again earlier this week and still haven't had any feedback. Its rather disheartening since my Afrihost account was running so well last year and I was recommending them left and right, but ever since the Apple update of last year the network has just not been performing as well. Its extremely erratic. One day it works like a dream, and then the next it falls flat. I know it's not an exchange issue, and its not a line issue. Switching to a Webafrica account and all is well.

:(

AfriMan has been bedridden since the weekend due a severe case of stomach flu.

Would it be possible for you to forward the PM you sent to me?

Ok cool. You guys should update your invoicing system to include credits.

:(

Thanks for letting me know about the article.

Definitely not cool that one of our Client's felt he had to resort to an article like that. We're investigating the issue now, and hopefully we can get him sorted.

That's the problem, why wait until something like this has to happen before you guys decide to look into it? It's no use trying to close the stable door once the horse has bolted...

This was the first time this specific Client posted on Social Media was on MyNews24, which we don't actively monitor. The issue turned out to be a configuration issue between his 3G stick which wasn't broadcasting the internet connection over his separate WiFi router.

Our Team could have definitely communicated more effectively with him, and if he had approached us on one of our monitored Social Media we could have gotten his issue sorted within a hour, as we did today.

We are pushing hard to improve response times with our Support Team, but if you guys ever experience something you are not happy with, please let us know here, or on Facebook or Twitter, we are here to help.

From a support view I can certainly identify with the writer. My personal experience even this year with Afrihost support staff leaves much to be desired.

Our Support Team hasn't coped as well with the increase in queries as we had hoped, we are pushing hard to improve it.

If you ever receive a response that you are not satisfied with, please let me know! We definitely want to address it, and improve the quality of our Support responses.

That is the biggest problem with most service departments everwhere. No one is proactive. It's all reactive. The guy has clearly called the support number on more than one occassion. Yet you put the onus on him saying he should have posted here to help resolve it. I'm not sure how your support centre works, but at some point if someone seems to be having the same issue over and over it should be flagged and escalated to someone who can get to the bottom of the problem. Perhaps even after the second call.

Problem is the blame keeps getting placed elsewhere. But that's my opinion. I've done IT support and even in my current field of work, i need to resolve issues with clients and other parties. I know from experience if you cannot resolve an issue yourself its best to get someone who can, involved sooner rather than later.

Did send you a PM to explain where I am coming from.

^^ The Afrihost social media team (you guys here!) are the only support I have faith in now.

Afrihost call centre avenues only lead to much cursing and utter frustration.

I hope your bosses are aware of just how much damage control you end up with and appreciate the many saves you personally are responsible for.

I have been personally helped almost immediately here a number of times by the AfriPeeps... and despite the differences between us over past issues, the AfriPeeps have never held these against me, and have in fact gone the extra mile to assist.

I for one would not be an Afrihost client still if I had to rely on the non-social media support staff for assistance.
