But in this case only my downloads are affected and you expect me to believe that there is no shaping of my service from your side?

And amazingly your demand ends the same time every night at 11PM.

As I said, we discussed this extensively last year, where we did see people getting full speedtests but not seeing full throughput on services. Whatever the experience, we don't have a policy that is shaping or throttling traffic.

Why do my downloads return to normal same time every night at 11PM then?

IPC issues, contention or whatever you calling it cannot pick a specific time to sort itself out at the same time every day.

When I say 11PM I mean 11PM to the second and the taps open up.
 
Any network is going to be impacted by demand, I don't think any ISP can have a 1:1 contention ratio or guarantee a specific experience at all times. A network is a dynamic system, and client behaviour, as much as hardware and software, is an integral part of that system.

Thing is ... your clients would like to believe we're being kept in the loop than in the dark.
At the moment it feels as if we're being given the 'standard' - huh issues? Really? Shouldn't be that bad. We'll look into it... <radio silence>.

We're all mature enuf ( well the vast majority of us anyway ;) ) to handle stark realities.
So let's address the issues openly.

Get someone from your office that can make decisions call me so I can discuss a way forward. I want either a full refund this month or my 30 day notice period wavered so I can take my business elsewhere.

I don't have the time for this sht...

There's definitely no-one sitting at a desk with a big red button on it turning shaping on and off. We also wouldn't want to automate a function like that (not that we have one, I'm saying hypothetically) because we would want to monitor demand, as our automated shaping system does on Uncapped. It's far more likely, and the data supports this, that user behaviour/demand drops off steeply at that time and contention is relieved.

But on unshaped capped all services should suffer equally otherwise you are shaping.
 
Whats happening Afrihost? Had to connect with my WebAfrica account last night to be able to log into Diablo, its not my line if a different account works. Been a week now that the internet is upto **** at work also. The issue is both with capped & uncapped @ work accounts. I use business uncapped at work & capped @ home. This is the same problem I had before leaving Openweb.
Is capacity an issue?

Good luck with that. I logged a call asking for compensation, got asked for more trace routes. AfriGenie asked for the ticket to follow up, and nothing else.

I've cancelled my account, AfriRunAround has made enough money off me.
 
Just want to let you know that for the past 2-4 weeks my Afrihost account has been really bad. Reminds me of the time when I was with OpenWeb. Last night, download speeds were between 1-10kB/s on a 2 MB Line. Reading this thread, it seems like there's an underlying issue that needs to be sorted out. I've been an Afrihost client for a long time and my line speed was always consistent until the past month.

Another client that's noticing slow speeds in the last month - Surely this isn't his line and is a problem with your network if he's never noticed the issue.

Why do we not see an update on your network status page??
 
A glimmer of light. Don't know if it was the nntp/p2p shaping but last night's gaming was rock solid. Best I've had on AH in a long long time. Keep it up AH!

Because everyone else's downloads where shaped/throttled! :-) Also my twitch was buffering like a Afrihost Bitch!

Glad to hear that. I know that we've done some updates to try to improve gaming (which is a big focus for us).

Not necessarily. It wouldn't be predictable really, but it depends on how services demand bandwidth and several other technical factors. What we've seen in the past is that some services seem to suffer less than others.
