Can anyone explain this to me. Afrihost used to have a 10Mb/s 50GB cap bundle for R497. Now the same bandle but with the "free double anytime data" costs R578!!

What's going on?

Because when your 50GB cap runs out, you get an additional 50GB. It's until september or so. You are basically getting more data for less monies.

Prices went up a few months ago, only for new customers though. Existing customers keep their bundle prices, I guess until Afrihost decide to increase that too.

Yeah but the extra 50GB should be free according to Afrihost.

Afrihost is probably the only ISP's who's prices go up even with bundles.

Not true. Been with them for years and currently 20mbsVDSL 50gb capped bundle went from R475 to R597 suddenly with my last debit order and with absolutely no notification I might add. When I queried the increase I got a stupid "this is the price" response which did not explain the increase. Very disappointed at the moment. Taken a lot of the shine off for me.

A simple explanation of a 26% increase would be all it takes.

The charged me more this month too but that is just not on. Have logged an account query, they cannot just increase my product price by R300 without letting me know in advance. I'm pretty sure that's not even legal.

The only reason I haven't cancelled though is because of the good price, if this wasn't the case I would have cancelled ages ago.

I'm still paying the same as I was for a 40mb 100Gb bundle. But I just saw the new pricing - ouch, 75+75 is R200 more than I'm paying now. I assume I can just stay with my old bundle pricing

Yeah but the extra 50GB should be free according to Afrihost.

By free you mean incorporated into the new price :). I'm sure they will extend the offer, it doesn't make sense for them to increase their prices while everybody else are trying to decrease prices.

This is crazy! My chat with one of the sales staff!

Simphiwe N has joined the chat.
Simphiwe N (08:29:48) : Hi Johann Botha, Welcome to Afrihost live chat. How can we assist you?

JB (08:29:57) : Hi Simphiwe

JB (08:30:51) : I just want to find out....I see your bundle pricing increased. Is this correct?

Simphiwe N (08:31:40) : Correct.

JB (08:33:30) : can you please say why as Afrihost mentioned decreases, also all other ISP's are decreasing their prices.

JB (08:37:32) : Does the Sales Department not have this info?

Simphiwe N (08:37:48) : Capped clients who were unbundled used to get double data but now bundled clients will also get get double data as clients that were bundled didn't get double data.

JB (08:40:05) : but is the bundled data for a limited time? also the website says it is "FREE Double Anytime Data on top of the normal monthly data allocation"

JB (08:40:22) : it can't be free if we are charged for it?

Simphiwe N (08:43:27) : This is the email that was sent to us regarding the price package,"Hi Guys,
We released new bundle offerings/pricing yesterday based on double data.
Clients can now have double data with bundles as you can see on the order form.
All clients who had an existing bundle got their data increased so that their current packages (PER/GB) match the new pricing. (At the same price_

NB: All Clients got more data at the same price that they were paying."

JB (08:46:45) : you should then revise the wording on the website, because there it states that the Double Data offer is FREE and until 30 September. I still don't understand how there is a price increase when the Double Data is FREE???

JB (08:47:22) : I had family and friends that wanted to sign up, but now Afrihost is one of the most expensive ISP's

Simphiwe N (08:49:56) : Apologies about that I will have management know.

JB (09:00:18) : ok, thanks. Unfortunately it is getting more and more difficult to persuade people to move to Afrihost if the prices keep going up. This is now the second time that the Bundle prices went up since I joined.

Simphiwe N (09:04:15) : Pleasure to assist.

Okay, so they sorted out my existing bundle price. They "had an unfortunate error" which caused my discount not to be added.

Ok, So this how I understand it? Afriman please confirm?

Existing bundle clients will get double the data, and keep paying the same price as before.
ie I'm on a 10Mbps and 50Gig Bundle, which will now become 10Mbps and 50GB+50GB and I will be paying exactly the same?

what about if you unbundled?

I'm paying R299/month for a 75GB+75GB account. Are you telling me that I will be paying more from 01 July ?

I was charged the following for July (copied from the email response to my query):

up to 10Mbps 2014-07-01 to 2014-07-31 R399.00......this is the line
50 GB 2014-07-01 to 2014-07-31 R399.00...this is your data package

R399 for 50GB capped, website states R199. I'm still waiting for feedback on my follow-up mail.

Edit: My bill was reduced to match the correct number. Looks like there was a billing problem in my case.
