Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Mmmmmm... FREEDOM!

Bye bye Afrihost - I gave the chance of waiting for the past 3 months in hope of getting something fixed, but you're service was not as promised. Probably one of the worst gaming experiences I have ever had, and sad to think that it always worked before :(

Maybe one day we will meet again :)

:( I'm really sorry it's come to that. I do hope you have a better experience with your new provider.

I get exactly the same, not cool

If you're not having a great experience, we definitely need to figure out what's going on. Were you able to run any tests that I can look at?

The next time you see the latency start to spike like that, can you please ping bras.afrihost.com. It'll help us a lot to figure out where the latency is coming from.

Did you not click on the second link?

You literally didn't look at my message, like at all?

My apologies, I must have clicked on the first link twice.

It looks like MyBB's Cloudflare may have affected the load times to MyBB.

Your latency to CS:GO shouldn't have been that high to a SA Server though. As I mentioned last week, our Team is going to have to monitor your connection in real-time to see what's going on. Can you please let me know if the latency starts to jump again.

Happens after 8PM when reps are off duty.

Wonderful latency spikes to Heroes of the Storm again (200-250ms with slight packet loss), as per nightly routine.

Our NOC team are looking into the reports of latency spikes. We should be seeing smooth performance at the moment, so we'll be looking at this very closely :(

Anyone else getting terrible lag on Twitch streams lately? Can hardly stream 480p on my 20mb line - everything else seems to be working fine...just Twitch that's a problem.

Which DNS servers are you using at the moment? And which web browser are you using? I've noticed during testing that not all browsers run Twitch as well as the others.

I'll need to double check my DNS settings when I'm back home tonight, but it doesn't make a difference what browser it is. Used Chrome, android app, Chromecast - all lagging unfortunately.

Okay, thanks. Please let me know when you're able to check the DNS. There shouldn't any reason for Twitch to be performing gladly so we need to figure out what's going on.

I'm tempted to come over with my garden shears and clip your cables because of those ungodly speeds! I'm stuck with 2Mb ADSL for years here in the boondocks...
I feel your pain, I really do.

I had to fight tooth and nail, and finally got 20mbps ADSL. Now I am fighting for a MSAN so I can get VDSL.

YouTube very erratic over the past week, with auto DNS it pulls from 169.1.3.x servers, some videos play full speed, some buffer and some just never start, and you can refresh the page and experience this on the same video.

Changing to Google DNS and YouTube is perfect, pulls from 197.80.135.x Mweb server cluster for Google at line speed?

Something is not right with Afrihost's YouTube cache.

Maybe shaping is incorrectly classifying YouTube to the 169.1.3.x servers.
