Can somebody just enlighten me if I missed any communication regarding Afrihost rep activity on the forums? It seems they were way more active and responsive in the past than currently.
The last couple of times when there was an issue the previous night I get the generic response that they did not see any issue on the network the previous night and if everything is better now.

Sorry if ignorant question, but I was away from Afrihost for a couple of months.

Good day AfriGenie
Any feedback? I WILL upgrade so rest assured, I'm not aiming to waste your time

As per Telkom, 4MB is the best I can get and the best answer I'm getting when asking "Why can a dude 700M away from me get 20MB and I can't" they just say "Sorry". What is the real reason? What is the procedure on getting Telkom to do some work? I understand you as Afrihost can not be blamed for this, but you must have some answer for this.

Really struggling tonight.

Specifically http downloads:
https://download-cf.jetbrains.com/resharper/Rider-RC-171.4456.1432.exe

Fluctuating between 30 - 120Kb/s on my 20Mbps line. Chrome says 2 hours left to download 250Mb.

Same result when downloading a test file:
http://ipv4.download.thinkbroadband.com/100MB.zip

Speed tests running full speed though, because they're obviously prioritized ;)

Bras pings sitting at 18ms.

I'm on a unshaped account BTW.

That's not good at all! :(

Were you seeing any latency on your connection? How was the rest of the weekend?

What is going on?

View attachment 450586

Youtube defaults to & buffers on 240p.

View attachment 450588

Downloads fail.

Browsing is slow.

Code:
Pinging www.mybroadband.co.za [104.20.10.169] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 104.20.10.169: bytes=32 time=99ms TTL=58
Reply from 104.20.10.169: bytes=32 time=94ms TTL=58
Reply from 104.20.10.169: bytes=32 time=83ms TTL=58
Reply from 104.20.10.169: bytes=32 time=96ms TTL=58

Ping statistics for 104.20.10.169:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 83ms, Maximum = 99ms, Average = 93ms

Game latency is over 500ms
This in an 8 meg line & capped account. Router syncs fine. Auto DNS on router.

EDIT: Youtube seems better now, still defaults to 720p, gaming useless.

Were you able to ping bras.afrihost.com at all?

Something was definitely off there.

Were you able to ping bras.afrihost.com?

Which DNS are you using?

Hi!

There has been no change to our activity on the MyBB forums.

If there are any issues or problems that you are experiencing we definitely need to look into that for you.

:(

It could be that you are connecting to a different Exchange. I'll see if I can get to the bottom of this!

All my line stats are fine, but I'm only getting about 4MB out of my 20MB capped account when I do speed tests. Everything from browsing to gaming to streaming is slow.

Over the weekend and today still. I'm in Cape Town, and my DNS is auto. There's definitely a problem here.

Who here is on Shaped Capped or recently moved from Unshaped to Shaped?
I'm thinking of moving from Unshaped to Shaped to get more data and wonder whether it will be worthit.
Is shaped fine or do they shape a lot or for no reason? Is it truly like advertised on the website that realtime services like browsing and streaming will never be shaped?

I don't torrent and don't download large files apart from software updates which doesn't happen that often. My main use is streaming Youtube, Netflix etc, then also general browsing email etc and quite a bit of cloud uploads and downloads, Google Drive, iCloud drive etc.
