Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

International was down when trying to access from Cape Town side - 100% packet loss about 5 minutes ago.

The problem started here 80.231.139.42 if-ae-11-2.tcore1.L78-London.as6453.net, and there is still a 41% packet loss at that hop

It's also exceptionally annoying that this is now at the beginning of a billing cycle.

Speeds in CPT are awful at the moment. Youtube buffering like hell and can't break over 1mbps.
Should be noted that speedtests run fine. Video streams are buffering like heck. YouTube, Amazon, etc.

That doesn't sound good. If your speedtest is good it means that your line should be capable of decent throughput. Any tests I can look at? :(

International routing mostly ends up at the same place for all regions, so this would have affected North and East users if there was an issue. I'm not aware that it did, but I can try to recreate on my side. Can you paste the full test result and the URL you were testing to?

I'm not aware of any issues at the moment with the afrihost server. Can you send me the link you were trying to pull?

Anything. Switch servers and it's fine but if on the afrihost server, it fails to have any throughput, also seems to restrict it to 2 active connections even though 5 are allowed. Been off and on for last 3 days.

Any other download, browsing etc seems to work, although when I switched connections nearly every cellphone in the house went made with an influx of notification noises.

Did things seem to work better when you switched back to Afrihost later?

Maybe switch back. Perhaps the line just needed a refresh by rebooting the router and port connection.

I'll test once I'm home again this evening but very strange that it's only that particular protocol and server.

since friday the only time AH worked properly was on monday why is it that AH never works properly for longer than 2 days

Lemme know what you need. Note that it is highly erratic. Some days great and some not so.
Intl. speedtests pushed almost full line speed. 19mbps on a 20mbps line from NY server however still horrendious youtube, amazon, vudu experience last evening.

What sort of issues have you been experiencing on your connection?

slow browsing, youtube buffering, terrible download speeds up and down and we could not even update our operating systems it normally takes 10-15min and now it takes 4 hours so had to stop the updates
it is starting to look more and more like the previous network problems you had

If you culd post the Stats for Nerds on Youtube that will help a lot. And if you can post your current DNS Servers as well please.

What sort of latency do you get on the overseas Speedtests?
