Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

How hard would it be to give your callcentre team information about current issues so they can answer clients with sense instead of just making up pure crap. Two calls this afternoon - first fellow had no idea and was hopeless. Resetting "my account" - presumably port - won't solve the "East" issue, let alone solve the non-existent "Seacom" problem. I mean really! How pathetic. Put up some big TV screens scrolling text about current issues.

And about maligning your team - I have had one run-in with an absolutely rude and unco-operative "team leader" before. Thick as 4 short planks too, she was.

Your callcentre barely passes with the 30% favoured by our govt.

Well said. I've also experienced the crap coated bull**** spewed by the brainless drones the last two days, and I've had enough.

My apologies if I missed your post, I'm definitely not ignoring you. As far as I'm aware you shouldn't be seeing the levels of latency that you mentioned previously.

Have you been able to test today?

I will test for you tonight. Thanks AfriGenie. Not your fault, just extremely frustrated with my service. Hope you understand.

...but you won't hear anything until Monday, then on Monday, you won't hear anything with any substance.

My ping is still through the roof. It's as if Afrihost doesn't have enough capacity at peak times...

Time and time again AH have been through this and they just deny deny deny, until one day, they come out the closet and say, YAY, we can celebrate, we have upgraded capacity!

Doh!

Cape Town East - absolutely a mess today.

Try online gaming and you get kicked off any international multiplayer server because of lag.

And these are the culprits....

cpt-rx2.ip.adsl.co.za [169.1.5.82]
cpt-net1.ip.adsl.co.za [169.1.5.128]

Erm, you have more than 5% packet loss on your local network hop.

Line running like Usain Bolt today. Thanks to those who fixed yesterday's fault.

They don't have capacity and they can't admit it. They'll try their best to blame your line the exchange or ANYTHING else. And when that fails.....silence. If you do ask anyone on this thread why their ignoring your questions they reset say sorry and ask if you've done any tests recently. This restarts the conversation until the problem goes away; you stop asking or you cancel. Rinse and repeat...Support at it's finest :P

NNTP awful. Hovering around the 200 to 300kbps mark. Spikes then back. Repeat.
Speeds to UK < 4mbps.

Latency to Cape Town has spiked to 180ms. The moment this happens performance goes through the floor. Unfortunately there is no explanation other than congestion in CT. It's the same thing every time/evening. And the same hop every time.

No problem to BRAS:

| Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last |
|------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------|
| router.asus.com - 0 | 111 | 111 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 |
| 155.239.255.250 - 0 | 111 | 111 | 16 | 16 | 18 | 17 |

But there's my old friend causing the problem - cpt-rx1.ip.adsl.co.za. Obviously a busy boy in the evenings.

During the day I can get that latency to London, UK!!

Were you able to test over the weekend? How did the latency hold-up?

:(

Something definitely looks off there. From those results it looks like it could be a DSL Line issue. Do we manage your DSL Line? Could you PM me your accounts.
