Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Afrihost is currently limiting the speed of my capped account on certain protocols. Also been having poor ping for online gaming. Everything 100% on Telkom.

Are you on the shaped capped or unshaped? Even the shaped product should not ever limit gaming traffic (except maybe downloads)

can I see the whole trace please?

Also having streaming issues on my capped DSL account. For a while now. Webafrica runs perfectly. What's the deal Afrihost? I see many complaints and no resolutions.

Definitely seems to be intermittent, but we're not seeing this in general. Can you please ping your BRAS as well?

We're always looking for any potential issues so we can proactively resolve them. We just need user tests to help us recreate what individual users are experiencing so we know where to look.

If you've run any tests, please drop them here.

Was this at the same time you ran the other tests?

Checked with our NOC team. We were applying shaping to shaped products, but otherwise the network was running well at that time. Please test again this evening and run a traceroute and bras ping test.

I also noticed high latency to your router. Please test over LAN, not over WiFi (preferably with WiFi turned off)

Afriteam.. i had a voice line installed yesterday and immediately put thru my application for a bundle on the afrihost website. I got an email sayign the line is ceased and needs to be verified. but telkom is saying i got to put it in holding pool bla bla bla.. i know this is the process when TRANSFERRING an existing ADSL line, but i wanna convert - i was told by JP that this is done free by Afrihost. please assist me with what i could to get connected ASAP

Hey there

Thanks for signing up with us :)

The "customer is ceased" error means that Openserve have not updated the number from the previous cancelled owner on their side, so the line cannot be transferred into the holding pool. It might just mean waiting a day or two for that admin to be resolved. If not, then we'll have to escalate to our Openserve account manager to have it cleared. We poll the holding pool every 24 hours once you sign up to check if the line has become available, and only close it after multiple failures. So if they sort it out, it should be fine, but let me check for you.

I'll reply on your PM :)

You need to find that support personnel then and tell them what ceased actually means in the OpenServe context. They caused this entire fiasco.

I either have no luck or intermittent buffering with streaming, inc youtube. But my Webafrica backup account runs fine. Can you explain why? Below is the traceroute.
