We canceled our Afrihost account, effective 28 Feb. Got the confirmation message and final goodbye email. Now they have billed our credit card again. Several emails to support are going unanswered.

Anyone else having this problem?

Afaik You cannot cancel a service from afrihost after the 24th of each month. Therefore you will only be billed once more.

Looks like afrihost is just messing up lately, very poor service complaints all over the forums. They make Web Africa look good at this stage, service wise.

Canceled around the 17th when I got confirmation that we got the 30 GB WA deal.

So I got this the evening of the 28th:

--------------------------------
We trust that you are well!

Please note that your account [email protected] that was on a 10 GB DSL Package have been cancelled.

You have opted to cancel the account with effect on 2010-02-28. As a result the account have now been deleted from our ADSL server and will no longer be active or accessible.

Again, we regret losing you as an ADSL customer, however we wish you all the best in the future.

Good prices equal more users. More users equal more complaints. Bad prices equal less users. Less users equal less complaints.

Have you tried phoning them?

I have sometimes had to wait a while to get through to someone at Afrihost, but their consultants are (in my experience) friendly and knowledgeable. They get things done (again, in my experience). So give them a call and see what happens.

Same thing happen to me. I'm busy on the line now, trying to sort it out.

Edit: They say that many people are complaining about the same thing.

I just need my ADSL to work until end March. I don't need a refund as I was under the impression that I have to give 30days notice in any case and that my service will only cease on the 31st of March.
BTW---- I'm moving to SAINET uncapped.

I wonder if this is to do with the 30 day notice required? The thing to do then is change to a 1gig account then cancel if it is the case.

more complaints = less users, less complaints = more users :)

less complaints = more users = more complaints = less users.

Ah, the never ending ebb and flow of market dynamics...

If you overuse they will charge too AFAIK, so far I was not charged for canceling my Afrihost account last month.

I checked before canceling. There was no 30 day notice period.

OMG you don't want to know what a fight I have had with them today grrrrrrrrrrrr. Finally my account has been sorted after 3 phone calls and 3 emails!

I actually got an extra 2 GB to make sure we don't go over the cap.

So far I've sent three emails, two to support (yesterday and today) and one to [email protected] today. NOT A PEEP OUT OF THEM.

Sorted:

Thanks for the email:)

Please accept my sincere apologies for the error.
I have spoken to the development guys regarding this & there seems to have been an error.

I have refunded the R290.00 back into your account.
