Afrihost down

From their web site. Thank goodness I can borrow someone else's Telkom account.

We are experiencing an ADSL connectivity problem in the Gauteng area. We are still investigating the cause and extent of the problem. Our engineers are dealing with this as critical priority, and we expect to have more information very soon. We are working with Telkom and MTN to ensure that the cause is neutralised in the shortest possible time.

We sincerely apologise to affected clients. We will update as we receive more information.

UPDATE: 8:30 13 March 2013 - The problem has been identified and recitified, we are currently monitoring to identify any further issues. Clients may have a delay in getting back online to due to backlog of authentication requests. We will ensure that our systems cope as best as possible until ADSL services are normalised. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE: 9:20 13 March 2013 - The root cause of the problem has been identified and is being resolved. Our engineers are working on getting all affected clients online in the shortest possible time. Please continue to be patient, this is our very highest priority. We’ll continue to keep clients updated as we receive more information.

They've been rectifying it since 08:30, I still can't authenticate.

It's funny cause at 08h30 they said it has been identified and rectified.

But at 09h20 they said it has been identified and is being resolved.

Maybe they are in a time bubble?

According to their twitter feed, there is a backlog of authentication requests.
if I remember correctly, when they cut over to MTN, there was a similar backlog.
I remember being told that Telkom can only handle about 2000 ADSL authentication requests per hour - ridiculous if this is the case as there should not be a limit or infrastructure restriction IMHO.

sorry axxess, no answer, no service.... moving my account NOW, cannot work like this anymore!!!!!

If you read the Afrihost forum - You will see that Afrihost have been a poor ISP for quite a few months. Anyone who disagrees obviously has not seen all the problems going on there (or just can't read - or are undercover Afrihost agents ;)). But I am sure they will be top again but at the moment I think that they really need to get the basic right - Get your call centre support people to know the products better - Make sure there is staff available when some decide to spontaneously do the Harlem Shake (this can slow down productivity). I know this is constantly being denied as a problem but I think a lot of people will agree the Afrihost was great before this MTN idea.

Afriman is conspicuous by his absence this morning.

Nearly 2 hours of earnings lost now.

This issue is not just affecting Gauteng. I am in Cape Town and I can't use any of my Afrihost ADSL accounts, all give me authentication errors.

OMB, do you want an account to use? I have a spare with plugg.

2 hrs since they said they'd identified the problem and it was resolved

I'd rather they told me that they'd identified it but expected resolution to take about 3 to 4 hours, at least I can plan my way around that.

Hehehe... I know the email thing. Stressed is likely lol. I'm sure the day will get better :D

As of today, or soon ago, Afrihost has a special where you pay R1 and get upcapped ADSL for March 2013, I wonder if it's related?

Call centre confirmed that it is nationwide

EDIT: Oh and the techs are still working on it.

Are afrihost and FNB on the same network. My adsl would only connect with gconnect?

UPDATE: 11:15 13 march 2013 - Our engineers are working towards restoring full connectivity to all clients. We do not currently have an ETA, but this is our highest priority.
