Afrihost down

I eventually managed to connect, but for every ping response I get I get a time-out. Basically unusable, can't even do a speed test.

Gian and his Execs should get their act together. Its seems the marketing has worked and the money has flowed in. Now the service goes down the drain.

No Afri Representatives around when you need them.

Its only a matter of time when the floodgates open and you lose customers.

Again, get ur act together. A word to the so called wise.

UPDATE: 19:50 13 Marc 2013 - Our engineers have applied a fix on one of the network nodes and this has been successful. The fix is being replicated to the other affected nodes. We’re still monitoring and will update as soon as possible.

We're truly sorry about the interruption guys. We know it was unacceptably long, and I assure you that we did absolutely everything in our power to get this resolved as quickly as possible. I'll be getting more details tomorrow on exactly what might have happened, and I'll post as much info as I can on our threads or in this one.

Right now I'm just grateful to the awesome team that got everything back up and running, and to all the affected clients who were exceptionally patient and supportive throughout the entire process, and were really understanding. You guys are just awesome!

:)

AfriMan you guys screwed the pooch on this one, first mistake was some bright spark posting on your site at 08:30 that the problem had been identified and rectified. It was really only 2 hours later before it started to become clearer that it was a total train smash and was going to take an indefinite period of time to fix. I lost 2 hours of client billing because of the issue, so I've learnt that I need a plan B in terms of a backup account for such catastrophic failures (thanks to a the good nature of myBB somebody gave me access to an account to get my office back on line so people could do work).

Having followed the continued drama since the MTN switch and what happened today I'm as close as I've ever been to closing my account with you guys.

I am seriously going to consider my options

Damnit Afrihost, your Bryanston DC is down again! I can't access my VPS yet again! Been down for 2 hours so far since 3:30am when my monitoring service picked it up.

Anyone else having problems with their dedicated server or VPS with Afrihost?

I'm just having problems in general - unable to hold a connection for longer than a minute. 3G to my rescue for now.

Internet was basically unusable last night on Afrihost.

Lol - Changed connection eventually to get connectivity. Hope that it is back to normal today.....
See that there seem to have been hosting problems too.

Afriman, the root cause is Mercury in Retrograde! http://jessicaadams.com/2013/01/02/mercury-retrograde-avoid-mercury-madness-in-2013/

It's been broken since 23:40 last night. Can barely load anything.
Last night was unusable, but this morning it seems fine:

International test on 1mb line:

Download Speed: 546 kbps (68.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 401 kbps (50.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

afrihost still broken this morning, this is very frustrating, thank God for Fnbconnect

We saw that some people still had slow throughput due to a routing issue, which was resolved. Please reboot your router if your speeds are slower than usual. This has sorted out the majority of support calls since yesterday's service interruption.
