Just got this from Afrihost......:) Thanks!

Great news...

You'll KEEP getting 18 hours of free internet every day on your monthly Capped DSL Data packages of R99 or more in December!

We originally only planned to keep Free-Time going until the end of November BUT the good news is we have managed to stretch it out for another month and help make your Festive Season more festive.

What must you do to keep Free-Time?

As long as you are on a month-to-month Capped DSL package of R99 or more you will automatically continue to get 18 hours of daily Free-Time in December.

Who will no longer get Free-Time?

Capped DSL Data packages of LESS than R99 a month will no longer get 18 hours of daily Free-Time from December.

Why are we stopping Free-Time for the lowest Capped packages?

The truth is we wanted to keep Free-Time going forever. For everyone.

But we crunched the numbers and we simply cannot afford to do it.

For example one of our clients (who pay us R29 per month) used over 3,300GBs of Free-Time in October alone.

That's less than R0.01 per GB!

While I am truly delighted that they enjoyed Free-Time and got such value out of it (and I in no way begrudge them their free GBS!) this gives you an example of how difficult it is for us to keep offering Free-Time to everyone.

However, as we promised we will keep Free-Time going till the end of November for all of our Capped Packages.

What will happen in December?

For December you will still get the daily 18 hours of Free-Time if you have an ADSL data package of R99 and more.

We wanted you to have a great festive month of December and celebrate the end of 2016 in a bountiful abundance of GBs!

Unfortunately we could not stretch out the Free-Time for the smaller Capped packages, and from December they will no longer have the 18 hours of Free-Time.

What will happen from January?

I’m not sure.

I really want to keep Free-Time going somehow and I promise you that I will do everything in my power to try and do this.

However the simple truth is it is challenging offering Free-Time GBs at the already low prices we charge.

But we will do our best to find a way!

I will let you know what’s happening with Free-Time in 2017 during the month of December.

So what’s the bottom line?

I want you to keep enjoying every moment of Free-Time: Download and stream to your heart's content during your daily 18 hours of Free-Time!

All packages of R99 per month and more will keep enjoying the full 18 hours of Free-Time in December.

However, if you have a low capped DSL package with us, and you want to keep enjoying Free-Time, then you need to upgrade to at least a R99 per month option.

As always I am sincerely grateful for your business!

Thank you and have a fantastic Friday!

Warm regards

Gian

Do packages below R99 p/m then go bck to the free midnight thing (which actullay was from 23h30 to 07h30)?

Thats what I want to know too, moving to a 50+50 account for me is excessive for the month.

Yip for me too. And I have Afrihost Plus which worked out cheaper for my needs (ADSL & Mobile data). Hoped that would count for something...

This is the reason why we cannot have nice things.:mad::mad:

I think AH should give like lets say 200-300gb if you have a 20gb packages instead of giving unlimited to everybody. By giving us a limit, I think everybody can enjoy " free time".

But still, thanks to the guy/s who downloaded the internet where you ruined it for everybody.

Clients with Capped accounts that are less than R99 per month will still get Free-Time just the shorter period. :)

We've had to tweak the Free-Time a bit, but Free-Time will be around until at least the end of December. :)

If you are on a smaller package than the 50GB + 50GB package you will get the shortened Free-Time.

Absolutely , but i let Gian know that packages below 100 gigs should not get free time. That user who pulled 3TB for R29 should not have happened.

Glad they listened, because overall free time has been amazing. No issues my side, and its something which is forward thinking and good for the internet landscape in this country.

However, freetime should at least run for another 3 to 6 months, and then have the network assessed based on a longer time frame

is there no way to have packages where you can pay for "free time" ... so like a hybrid capped/uncapped

I just want something that's uncapped on the weekend really ... e.g. afrihost home uncapped is R597pm; but can't I have something where I'm capped in the week and uncapped on weekends?

My current isp is very similar to what vox had with their bolt on ... perhaps afrihost can introduce something similar (100/150gb + bolt on thing)?

If you opt for a 50GB + 50GB Capped account, you will receive 100GB of data per month for R99 and then each day you will have access to Free-Time between 00h00 and 18h00. This is over weekends as well. :)

nice move.

Actually perhaps a sliding scale based on package would work?

Something along the lines of this...
below R99/mo package = 6 hours free time (midnight to 6am)
below R199/mo package = 12 hours free time (midnight to midday)
above R200/mo package = 18hours free time as it is currently.

Suppose they could even make it 3 hour gaps between each package with more options?

Is this going to be a permanent thing post December afrigenie?

I got a R99 account for December btw :D ... so my original question was meant to be post December

Or make it a GB limitation, instead of time based one. Like you get 10times your day data at night.

I honestly don't see why people are complaining. Is R99 a month to get unlimited data during free time really out of one's budget? Upgrade to a larger package, problem sorted.

To be honest, the people that would be complaining, are the ones who just signed up on a small package to take advantage of this. They had no intention of being a permanent client, and the change by AH is correct. This can be a permanent thing, but we cant have people abuse it and spoil it for everybody else.
