08 June: Openserve coverage map shows my street now has fibre
08 June: I sign up with Afrihost via R4000 promo link - receive a 'Welcome to the family' email: "Telkom will contact you to arrange the installation of the fibre line. Turnaround time is not yet defined..."
14 June: Dlink DIR 825 router is delivered
22 June: 2 weeks after sign-up - no further update
27 June DM to AfriGenie on update
28 June AfriGenie reply: delay “due to shortage of ONT devices at open serve”
28 June sent query via openserve.co.za website on status of ONT devices. No response
06 July 4 weeks after sign-up - no progress…

:(

They are working to get the ONT device in stock again as quickly as possible to be able to work through the backlog.

So...just spoke to a friend who ordered fibre last week through telkom who is 700m away from me and his installation is happening on Monday. WTF!! I've been waiting 5 weeks for my order through Afrihost. If I don't receive a call within the next day or two I'm cancelling all Afrihost services!!

I'm sure Openserve will be in contact with you shortly then!

Seems like there is only excuses, I am still waiting on a response from Afrihost and Openserve on the same query logged an ticket with both. The router I received is basically an ornament now. No customer service Only time you get feedback is when you have to post on forums for the whole RSA to see..
If you don't have stock on ONT devices, but other companies can continue installing then obviously you are doing something wrong.. Maybe more order quantities?

Hi there!!!!

VOX has installed Fiber in our complex in Ferndale (340 pine avenue)....
Its been completed for over 2 months now, and every other week Vox send someone to verify its live.... At what point will Afrihost eventually be able to install to my house?

Sounds right. I had more excitement from the Telkom rep who phoned today than with my current install status.

Evening! Have you checked out our Coverage Page?

@AfriGenie I'd like an update or installation ETA for my order please. I've sent several tickets and PM'd but haven't received much information for the last 2 weeks.

So apparently FTTH is unavailable in my area.. cancelling my order with Afrihost

As promised services cancelled.

Going the Telkom route.

At all? Or has the roll-out been delayed?

All my neighbours have fibre.. and the distribution point they connect to is on my property.. but Afrihost said fibre hasn't rolled out. Vanilla are personally handling my order.

I just re-checked the coverage map and it still doesn't look like your area is live yet. And Vumatel definitely accepted your order?

LOL! How can you claim his area is not live when he just told you all his neighbours are connected to Fibre and they are connected to the distribution box on his property.

This is exactly what Afrihost did to my neighbours and my neighbors connected to Cool Ideas on the same day.

Seems like you guys don't want money :)

I'm not claiming anything, I can just go on the information provided by the coverage map data that we receive from Vumatel. :(

Then the information is clearly wrong and you need to investigate it, don't you think?

lol clearly the map must be wrong as i just checked an openserve covered area and shows not covered on afrihost coverage map.

This morning TT connect guy came and assessed our house and looks like it's good to go. Just waiting for an installation date.

Just a few questions.

I signed up a 100g package.

1) If I go uncap, after I reached my threshold of 120 gigs, how much will Afrihost throttle my speed.
2) if I finish my 100 gig data, what is the top up rate.
3) Does free data (12am- 8am) applies to Fibre package?
