One of our hosting packages with Afrihost has been down since last night... emails too... no email at all. Support are quite positively useless this time around. No follow ups last night or this morning, and they can't give us an expected resolution time "until 8 when a manager gets in".

Anyone else having difficulties at the moment? Any idea what it is?

No problems this side - but I've got a dedicated server there.

In fact, our uptime has been 100% since I first installed it.

Still down.

Network status says this:

"High Impact
Opened: 07:58 Wed, November 09, 2011

Part of our shared hosting platform has been running at a higher than normal server load due to a datastore problem.
This has affected several services including mail download speeds, Cpanel access and website access.
Part of the service has now been restored and our senior technical team is working to restore all services soonest.

Please accept our apologies for the unexpected downtime and thank you for your patience."

This is the same message that was up last night... only that they've updated the timestamp. Nearly 12 hours so far with no email access is borderline crazy.

That is why I prefer managing my own stuff.

Yeah. This is pretty much the last straw. I've had so many issues with their shared hosting over the last year that i've actually lost count. Definitely going to set up a dedicated server with Hetzner.de. Just last week I asked Afrihost for a quote on a dedicated machine... but they can't even call back when there is a support query (after leaving details 4 or 5 times). I can't work with those service levels.

I thought I would give Afrihost shared hosting a try. Moved my stuff over from serve.co.za. Had 2 outages in 2 months...not good Afrihost! I don't recall having a single minute of downtime with serve for 5yrs!

Support from Afrihost was ok, but too many technical issues on their shared servers.

Pull up your socks gents or you will loose customers. It takes us 10mins to switch hosts these days

Yup, im down as well, cannot even access the control panel in the client zone ! gives error of 'Bad Gateway' have submitted a fault docket this morning but so far have only recieved a automated responce so still waiting. I agree this is not good

You are currently caller number 6.

Seems like ppl are finally waking up to the fact that we're hitting 12hrs of downtime already. The automated telephone response still says "We have no clue what the problem is, we have our big boys on it, we'll restore services soon" (that was an edited version, but basically accurate).

Ok, finally some answers. They're bringing up the virtual machines. Looks like some of their servers (sounded like more than one) had some seriaaas hardware failure.

Definitely moving my hosting to a dedi machine at hetzner.

Apparently half of the servers have fallen over. Stupid Servers!

just searched twitter to see if there is any more news. It seems that this problem has affected more than two people......

Yeah... more than 25hrs later... still down... no email. This is actually enough to make me throw up. I'm never touching Afrihost hosting again... ever.

Maybe Staff writer can do an article about this, he will probably get more information out of them then what we are getting.

Here is the funny part, if there is such a thing. Got a few sites with AH and had too many downtimes so we contacted I.S. for a hosting platform. They said "no problem" ... they have a fully virtual site, vmotion etc etc ... no downtime, bla bla bla. We got a quote and were ready to migrate, heh, our account manager calls us back in a panic to say that I.S's shared hosting is AH.

Oh dear.

Starting to receive emails, but it does seem that there are a few missing ones. Maybe still stuck in the server queue?
