Afrihost/Internet Solutions network problems (email)

We often struggle to send emails using an Afrihost/Internet Solutions account. We use our own mail server (hence not Afrihost's mail service).

Anyone else experiencing email problems with Afrihost?

I reported issues with is's smtp servers a couple of weeks ago... Not sure if you're relaying through them?

Try changing the SMTP port to something else and test uncle rpm, alternatively contact Afrihost to find out if your mail gets routed through their mail servers, it might be.

Hard to do that... Servers on the interwebs will only listen for mail on 25...

I disagree. I know of a few ISP's that don't use port 25 for smtp.

Most servers that accept authenticated mail should also be listening on port 587 - the mail submission port.
