Afrihost keeps me up at night

Evening all sorry for the delayed reply , Thank you all so much for trying to help , but it would seem I will have to wait until my router arrives , spoke to Afrihost again today and it still hasn't been sent out , they now tellme it will be 7-10 days . I wish I had stuck with Telkom and ADSL !
You called about your router being sent out but didn't enquire about using your old router in the meantime, apologies I know technology eludes some people and consider it before their time but if you really want it sorted then you need to make use of the support team, there's really nothing more we can do.
 
Oh no what have I done ! I think I may have made a big mistake ! I have changed my ISP from Telkom to Afrihost as I have moved over to fibre and I am already regretting it . Afrihost in their wisdom have failed to send out my router so I am sat with my fibre all installed and no way of using it ,according to their call centre it will be sent out sometime next week as they don't send the pre ordered routers out until the customer asks for it ??? I fear the worst ! I thought by leaving Telkom my days of very poor service and call centre "put offs" were over but it seems like they are just beginning with my new ISP

Sorry about the delay.

You should generally be able to use your existing router, as this is just to create the WiFi connected and give you a basic switch to connect LAN devices.

Drop me a PM so we can sort out the delivery of your new device and advise on setting up the old one in the meantime.
 
Evening all , Just thought I would give you a update , still no router still no fibre! Afrihost say its still in the stores waiting to be sent out I have spoken to them every day this week , and everyone promises to send it out the next day but still sat in the stores , ive spoken to Managers and supervisors nothing doing !

Amazing how their 'service' just shuts down over a weekend. When I migrated they took ownership of my line on Friday without giving me my user details (openserve) and then closed the doors for the weekend. BUT there is a silver lining to all of this (hint: it is not afrihost). You move (or pending move) to fibre is good, that you got away from telkom seemingly unscathed is a miracle, it normally takes months to cut the cord and then most importantly this - an ISP with good customer service (not perfect service) is a myth. My conspiracy theory goes like this - if all ISPs agree to give crap service then none have to be bothered with it :) But don't beat yourself up about making the 'wrong' choice, just know that you now started your search for the elusive good ISP.
