Afrihost mobile data disappearing

I've always been very skeptical of disappearing data claims, but now I've run across it myself!

My dad's phone ran out of data last night - afrihost's logs say he used about 500Mb, his phone doesn't reflect any of this! So he bought a 250Mb topup - again, according to afrihost he's used about 50Mb already, but his phone usage says only 3Mb was used.

Any ideas, afrihost? When he mentioned it I thought android or some app had done a giant update without him knowing, but the phone's data usage screen just doesn't support that idea.
 
Wouldn't that still show up on the phone's data usage screen, though?
 
In fact he switched his mobile data off completely, and it's used 100Mb since - something's definitely wrong.

Not with him at the moment, so I can't post screenshots now. Will get them tomorrow.
 
Make sure all apps up to date delete any un used apps. i had that once there was a data leak due to some miss up dated app and another app that i didn't use and all those voip apps like zoiper

I've been experiencing the same thing as of last night on my mom's phone. According to them her usage is about 450mb and the phone says a couple of kilobytes as she's been at home connected to wifi the whole day???
 
Makes sure, if its new model phone, that wifi assist or whatever is not on (wifi assist uses 3G when wifi signal is weak, moronic idea in my opinion, I wonder if wifi assist registers as wifi traffic)
 
It gets even stranger. If I look at the afrihost graph, it shows 1.42Gb used yesterday. But if I look at the session logs, there's no more than 40-odd Mb used.

That's on the client zone app - I'll check the logs on the website when I get to work.
 
Okay, I really need an afrihost rep to look into this. Session logs show hardly any data used; phone shows hardly any data used; but graph shows 1.42Gb used and data bundles are depleted. It doesn't make sense.

Our session logs and usage tracking is pretty accurate. If you are seing a disparity then we definitely need to look into this.

Could you possible PM me your Father's account details and screenshots of the usage graph?
 
I am also having a issue with data not being correct, according to 3g watchdog only 37mb was used this month on the number. Yet I still received a sms that 401mb was used.

The data usage logs that you can download from afrihost shows just abut the same usage as 3g watchdog with 38.776mb

But the data usage graph shows different total from the log for yesterday and today. I know the phone has been on wifi the the whole day and yesterday.

I have the same issue and on the same dates as in the graph above.

it says I used 10gb but its only a 2gb account.

If i load a bundle now then its gone in a few hours.

The raw logs dont add up to the amount of data bundles i've added in the last two days.

I've factory resetted and reinstalled rom but data still goes and to make matters worse, the phone was on wi-fi and not mobile data.

the agent says its happening to random people.

Dunno how a 2GB account reaches 30GB usage? I havent even topped up that much.

fortunately top ups are manual.

But what bothers me is If I load a 250MB bundle now, in a few minutes its gone.

Can someone else be using a clone of the sim or something.

It looks like the usage isn't reflecting correctly in the ClientZone, it shouldn't affect your actual usage though. Our Dev Team is checking the ClientZone out now to see why this is happening.
 
Just got 2.2GB data in my account now.

I think they probably found the issue and returned all my eaten up data bundles.
 
2 hours later, and the data is still sitting there untouched except for a few odd normal MB's - this is looking good.
By now i was expecting the whole 2GB to be gone.
