Does anyone know how the Afrihost APN handles the session size?

ie. is it 1KB, 10KB or 1MB?

We have the Afrihost sim in a 3G router, and have used all the data for the month without expecting to.

What we are trying to figure out if it would help to turn off the 3G router unless we are specifically using the internet.

There is a 14yo girl within the house using whatsapp constantly and if the APN charges in 1MB sessions, I guess she will fly through the Data Cap.

edit - also does the sim send off a handshake to the tower every 3,5,30 mins? and would that use data? if so how much?

See this post if you are unsure what this all means

If I leave my modem on with my pc connected over night (has happened before don't like doing it) I used like 2mb at most.

Have never tried it with a router I just have a normal 3g modem. I guess you can test it. Leave on the router for a night without anything connected

Thanks DBTA,

How do you get that report? And how do you know its only 2MB?

thanks btw

thanks guys...

appreciate it, Its good to know and even better on the behalf of the ISP.

Just check the phone's they like to leach data ( software updates etc gameupdates) Might be good idea to just inplug everything, disconnect the router for a hour and then reconnect it leave it for the night and check how much it uses on its own
