That's pretty odd - that video should usually stream pretty easily. It's working pretty decently on DSL for me.

We don't add any intention shaping to Mobile Data ever - so it may be a latency issue. If it's working on DSL I'm guessing there are no routing or CDN problems with accessing YouTube on the MTN backbone :(

So.. any other suggestions? If I switch to my vodacom sim everything loads up instantly.
 
I still had it last night. I just can't understand how it can take so long to fix. I'm a programmer and there's logic to technology. Surely it's just a matter of finding the problem and fixing it. It's like with the cloud servers that took months to fix. :(

Was it last month where everything stopped working on the last couple of days and noone can use the last of their bundle? Afrihost, surely we should get some of our money back because we can't use our data and most of all because of all the frustration!

I guess there's a reason why it's so cheap. :(
 
Yeah the capped issue seems to be fixed now. The past weekend was bad was basically kicked out of every league of legends game.....

Hope its fixed now. I don't get the capped message now so hopefully its fixed

I think while this current mobile issue it was difficult to troubleshoot these problems. The issue seems to be mostly resolved now. Are you still having problems on your side?

I know that we have some really smart and very experienced developers working on this, as well as the top minds in the country from MTN working with a complex network of interweaving systems, parameters and variables. All of this on a live network with millions of active users that can never go down for maintenance. I'm no programmer (I'll admit it, Powerpoint is the most complicated bit of software I use) but I have confidence in our team and have faith that if it takes them a while to resolve something it's because it's absolutely necessary to do so in terms of best practice, redundancy and recovery. I don't think there was any unnecessary delay in the process and the best solution was found in the end.

We have implemented some changes, so it should happen. The reality of Mobile is that there could be issues here and there, but definitely not the major problem we had over the lat few days.
 
When are Afrihost going to announce what's happening to their mobile plans post June 2014?

I can pop into Cell C tomorrow and take out data contracts to replace my Afrihost Mobile services and buy myself 24 months of certainty!!

We should be announcing something soon, we'll definitely give clients enough notice either way so that can adjust their packages accordingly. Remember the offer remains valid until end of June :)

I have more than 4 gigs available yet I am redirected to the capped page... Seriously not happy. Took me close to 20 min on the phone to try and get the issue resolved. Not happy at all.

Thanks AfriGuy, the issue was resolved but after a few minutes it happened again so I just gave up. I am now opting to pay a silly amount of money to AlwaysOn :sick: The only good thing is the Wimpy Coffee.

Could you PM me? I'd like to see why it's happening so often. I know it's frustrating :( I'm sure our team will have this sorted out soon though!

And yes, that Wimpy coffee is damn good!
