OK, will do.

You can start with Illovo in Johannesburg. Very average 3G reception, no LTE.

I partly got the Afrihost Mobile as a backup for during power failures, but reception is too poor for this.

Gonubie (East London), Umhlanga and Grahamstown were not great either.

Will measure more accurately and report back on other locations as I go. Assuming that I don't cancel in the meantime.

Please PM me your info so I can have this sorted out.

Afriguy/Afriman/Afripeople.. is there any explanation as to why this is happening (the capping)?

When I asked on whats causing this and whether it will be resolved, I was told "its the nature of mobile technology".
When I pushed to want to know why / cause and when it will be resolved as other networks don't have this random capping issue (especially lasting this long) - I was told something to effect of "the info is proprietary hence cannot be disclosed". Absurd, but thats the answer I got.

One last time though, this has been going on for months - is there any end in sight to this incorrect capping issue, or should we just accept it as part of the package?

I think the phrasing may be a little confusing, but essentially we can't go into the inner working of how our network is designed or integrates with upstream networks. Not only for ourselves but due to the provisions from our upstream providers.

We are aware of the issue and it is definitely occurring less than it had previously (since we launched Mobile Data last year), but this is an ongoing development project.

I have a theory that the capping is inversely proportional to the importance of your task! :)

Particularly frustrating for those of us who use Google Docs or other cloud services...

I totally understand. I use the LTE service from my iPad while I'm travelling, thankfully I've never had the problem. Guess that my work is not very important :(

I live in Bishopscourt, Southern Subs Cape Town. Can barely use my mobile data at home - according to the MTN coverage map the available network coverage at this point: "2G / EDGE". I am also on the verge of ditching my Afrihost mobile.
Seems that Telkom has even caught on to how pathetic this is as our area has been identified for the kick-off of their 100Mbps fibre to the home (FTTH) services.

Afrihost, I'm not getting a ticket reference when I email support. Is there an issue with the tickets?

Sorry to hear that the coverage isn't the best in your area :(
Have you had a coverage query logged?

Yes I am. So far two emails sent and no auto-response. It's related to the PM I sent you last night.

Edit: I checked ClientZone and there's nothing.

I've been running through my PMs for the last 20 mins or so - I'll check yours out now though.
Strange that you aren't getting a ref# - see if logging one via the ClientZone works? :)

Will do...

Edit: okay that worked. Ticket: CQJ-740-98204.

Please report that the email hook for support tickets is borked...

I'll check it out for you now :)
I've also replied to your PM and reset your Mobile connection - you shouldn't see that capped message anymore.
