*If* the double data falls away end of December then yes - you would need an AH+ package to keep it, which would mean 1 AH+ package per mobile 3 that you're on = R300. It's R99 for AH+ now, or R149 after the promo period ends. I hope they re-visit the R99 pricing offer should the double data fall away.
 
Is there perhaps an firmware update available for the huawei E5331 ? I always seem to have EDGE/GPRS signal on this modem, but if I put the simcard in a phone, i get HSDPA+

Probably a dumb question, but have tried forcing the modem to use 3G only?

There should be a 3G only option in the modem. Try that. If that option is greyed out it means you have a active data connection which you need to disconnect first. Switch to manual connection then go to the main screen and click on disconnect. Now go back to the network settings and set it to 3G only.

You can now manually connnect everytime or just flip the automatic setting back on from manual.

I had a similar issue with mine - forced it to use 3g only and it is a lot better now...

Should be R145 (sometime in the future, not for now though). Remember that you can always link the benefits to different packages. So you could have Double Data on one and 2 for 1 topups on a second package. That way you can get the best benefit, it really depends on your usage.

Phones have a very different technology (and obviously cost a lot more) so they do often outperform mobile devices. You can follow the suggestion of some forumites to lock the device to 3G. Definitely works for some. Just remember that if you are going to be moving around, this may affect continuous connectivity. If you're pretty much in one spot, it may be better for you.

Even without double data, I still feel that our Mobile (and any other product for that matter) is still incredibly priced and offer a lot of benefits out of the box.

I know losing 50% of your monthly data sucks, but the double data promotion has always been just that. A limited promotion that was always set to end :(
 
Urgh... can anybody here confirm if Axxess mobile data can be provisioned on an Afrihost SIM and to use this Axxess mobile data one would just change the API on the device to Axxess's ?

The management systems are completely separate, you will need to receive a new sim card from Axxess with the data loaded onto it.
 
I only have 1 mobile account so the plus package not worth it for me imo... will be moving to axxess next year. Thanks Afrihost, was good while it lasted lol
 
I can't get ADSL where I stay so I only have a mobile account. Consequently all I'm interested in is the data connectivity and nothing else. If double data stops there is no doubt I will be moving to a cheaper provider.

Sad as it is. Once that double data is gone the competition field is open and sadly I will just have to reconsider my options. I will miss the superb service and client zone tho.

BTW When is the fatal day? End November?

I can't see where you would be able to get 40gb data for R987. So yeah it would be devastating if Afrihost kills the double data.
 
People don't seem to realise that Axxess's double data is also just a promotion.

So what are they going to do when that get's cancelled as well?
