Ah. The main point is that the E5331 does not support an external antenna. You need the E5332 or E5776 MiFi's for that. :) How on earth did you use your Yagi?

the yaggi antenna was installed by mtn. it has a desk pad that I put the mtn wireless dongle on with an elastic band. this works perfect. full 3g signal.

Now when I do the same with the MiFi wireless mobile the signal goes from orange to full green?

Did you have to pay MTN for installation or was it done free of charge ?

This is a bit strange :(
If you're having trouble connecting please drop me a PM with your account info - I'll run some checks on my end.

Again remove the cover and tell me what the CRC9 connector is for on the bottom left. ;)

Sweet. Would you mind posting some pics of the install?

The E5331 does not have an external port, unless there's some custom model floating around...

No the only difference from what I understand is that the 5332 comes with an easy accessible antenna port but the 5331 have the same internals with a small crc9 connector on the board accessible when the back cover is removed on the bottom left side looking from the back. Easy to drill a hole in the cover.

Any contacts for me? I have a valid case where I am. Going through the normal brainless channel is just not worth it!

Well slap me silly. Different port to my E5332 unfortunately so couldn't test my cable.

I'm not sure how similar the E5331 and E5332 are really though. Totally different profiles. The E5332 is much more blockier. And for the record, the port on the E5332 is neither CRC9 nor TS9. Tried to look it up now but the Poynting site is down.

We are experiencing some technical difficulties. Please bear with us and check in next week. Or come visit us to purchase your antenna.

hey sorry man - this was done a few years back when I had my business office in my spare room at home. I had no internet / cell phone signal whats soever.

I ranted and raged on the phone to mtn and they sent out a techie who did a field test and then installed the yaggi antenna free of charge.

it does not plug into anything - it just has a flat pad that I put the usb internet dongle on with an elastic band. I also used to use it with my phone as I'm on the fringe of the cell tower and prior to the antenna being installed my signal used to "float" around and caused many dropped calls!! customers used to complain  I then discovered that there is one spot that I get a good usable signal and that is by my wash up in the kitchen. :wtf:

I've used this setup for years now and I just assumed I could just do the same with the MiFi dongle. without the yaggi antenna the signal is orange - once I've put the MiFi on the yaggi pad the signal goes all green!

Yo, sounds like you've done a lot of research. Just remember that this kind of modification could void your manufacturer warranty.

Just saying :)

That's pretty awesome! I'l like a yaggi antenna surgically implanted so I get LTE wherever I go. Did the MTN guy indicate if this is possible?

Never mind, I'm emailing the CEO of MTN NOW!!!! ;)
