I also had to burn through my Data in the Last two days. Used 4.2Gb's just yesterday :D

Burned through ~7.44GB in one fell swoop from 18:42 yesterday till midnight:

Was awesome to say the least. Watching them linux ISO files coming down at 1.3MB/s out of seemingly thin air is quite something...

Thank goodness didn't have to call or contact anyone to get extra gigs or else I would go mad !

I just dropped ""Gian"" a quick mail and ""he"" sorted it out for me. But I had a special case so I do not hold them responsible for skipping me during the handout session.

Nope this is not going to work for me. I needed to download a Raspian distro 578M odd. Try one, HTTP via my 2+1 sim but download failure on 266M, network shows connected but no data moving no web pages available. Try two, decided to test my daughters 3+7 sim and it connected OK immediately and this time round I used bitcomet to do the HTTP download and found the download moves fast. Then suddenly the download slowed and for an odd 15+ minutes the remaining time remained on 33 minutes but the download were still progressing. Then at 3 minutes left @ about 96% I decide to get a cuppa and on my return found that the download restarted. So it failed and bitcomet tried all over again. So near a gig gone and no download to show. So ADSL remains the only viable solution it seems. This mobile data are good for browsing e-mail and small downloads as anything bigger without resume capability are bound to disappoint! :crying:

PS: Third time lucky. Total download estimate 1.466 GB for a 578MB file.
At least the third time it downloaded much faster.

DSL is still the most stable bandwidth solution. I wouldn't say Mobile is useless for downloads, but I would definitely not recommend high bandwidth downloads unless you really have no other option. We do see sudden jumps in latency which could effect your download or cause the issues you mentioned (especially if the download is not able to cache on your device and then resume like Apple update)

Have had these issues before, but that's why I do large downloads only that are resumeable. Or just download them to my vps & then grab them from there. I know a lot of hassle, but hey its nothing if it saves your a few mb/gb!

I ordered on the 27th and got billed for the rest of the month but the SIM only turned up on the 1st and I lost what I'd been billed for. It was only R29 but if you do this to a few thousand new customers and it becomes a nice income!

Nailed by the above issue again. Only solution is to restore network settings, then reapply the Afrihost APN. Kinda annoying when on the run and you find you are effectively off-network.

Any news on you guys stocking LTE MiFi devices? I hope they will be affordable. LTE devices seem to be very expensive still compared to normal 3G units :-(

Yeah, the LTE devices are a lot pricier than the 3G ones, but I guess they can do a lot more speed and traffic wise. We don't have pricing just yet, but we should have some on offer pretty soon :)

Which MiFi are you using out of interest? Surely not the free Afrihost one?

Had the same issue with iOS7 downloaded 400 megs via iPad next minute the connection drops but shows connected resumed quiet a few times until Apple said enough is enough, you going to re-download everything. Lost about 400 megs on that download .

Speak to the REP maybe he can add more bandwidth for you/what you forfeited I think they had this option enabled by default for folks who would take up the APN offer and not the sim card offer but yeah I think it is unacceptable their system should then rather bill you for 2months in advance for example and make data roleover :) for new customers : )

They reasonable compared to other places I have seen but haven't queried with CELL C/VC/MTN to know how much they charge outright.

http://www.afrihost.com/site/product/mobile_devices
Huawei E3276 LTE Speedstick R1696
Huawei E5776 LTE MiFi Device R2696

Still the same pricing that was shown from almost 'day one'.

I know that CELL C do offer E3276 as a bundle for R2999(includes 100gig data)

Definitely not free. It's the latest one. E5331s-2

Ah. The main point is that the E5331 does not support an external antenna. You need the E5332 or E5776 MiFi's for that. :) How on earth did you use your Yagi?
