1) Can I cancel the contract anytime?
Yup, no contracts involved. Its month to month (however, if you take out a per month billing for the device, you'll have to pay the balance if you no longer want to pay for the data. However, there is no interest on the per month device billing, so it really doesnt change much in terms of price :P

2) How are the speed in Cape Town? particularly southern suburbs.
Depends on the area. I get around 10Mbps in my suburb.

3) Can I use the modem as a wifi hotspot for my iPhone?
Yup, for any device that supports Wifi (Up to 8 devices at a time though)

I'd like to get an afrihost mobile contract with the E5331 modem. have a few questions:

1) Can I cancel the contract anytime?
2) How are the speed in Cape Town? particularly southern suburbs.

Hi there

Great time to buy one with our 50% off special - but remember that it finishes on the 5th!!!

You can cancel anytime before the 25th of any month for cancellation to take effect within the same month.

I couldn't say for sure, we generally see pretty good 3G speeds. Maybe check out the coverage map on our website.

Yes, it's a MiFi, so it creates a personal wifi hotspot and then you can connect up to 8 devices :)
 
Afrihost mobile service is terrible and sucks and I haven't even received my sims yet so it will go from bad to worse I'm sure.
 
I'm in Pinelands, CT, and I set up my MiFi yesterday. It's great! Finally free of pathetic Cell C. Thanks Afrihost!

One suggestion: Only start charging the client after the device has actually been received by them. I ordered shortly before the end of the month and my device only got to me in the next calendar month. So I lost the pro-rata amount of data for which I'd actually paid.

I want to cancel my mobile account with Afrihost. If I click on cancel service via client zone, will it deactivate immediately or at the end of feb?

Basically I still need it for Feb but from 1 march, I don't need this anymore... How do I cancel it correctly?
 
We generally started running cancellation scripts an hour or two before to ensure that the process runs smoothly so that has always been the case :)
I ordered my mifi device on the 24/01, payment went thru on the 27/01.
Left several messages via email and live chat, even called in, no response. Whats happening Afrihost?:confused:

Sorry to hear you're leaving us :( If you process a cancellation today it'll take affect at the end of the month.

Thanks for the reply. I got this for my SO as she didn't have DSL at her home, seeing that she now has her DSL sorted, it's become redundant for us :(

Though, I'm not leaving you entirely. I've got my uncapped account with Afrihost which I'm very impressed with ;)

Glad to hear that. Maybe you'll see a need for Mobile again in the future - it's going to become indispensable eventually ;)

Ok i will, I've been very impressed with Afrihost from the start and being a client with them from 2002. There is some mixup on the system, cos i got a mail from Jan this morning saying the device was delivered and I must confirm delivery, On the clientzone it says "waiting for payment" no contacted me with tracking code etc.

Afrihost I have all faith in you, but you need to sync your systems.

I have called many times and waited more than 48 hours but still nothing.

Afriman, I sent you a PM. Please look into it.
 
I can't believe I'm saying this but I can't wait for Telkom to finishing installing my adsl land line even with their pathetic service it is still better than this afrihost junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to take this afrihost sim and shove it so far up Afrihost's arse hole that they need to spit it out.

I mean seriously I'm sitting with 5/5 bars signal with a E3551 + and external antenna for the first 1 min the connections works fine but as soon as I open a online game(Dota 2) the whole connection almost stops. I can browse the internet but as soon as I've opened a online game the whole connection becomes slow until I disconnect and reconnect.

Please don't try and tell me PM me with the details(Afri representatives) this does nothing I've pm'ed my problem before and I didn't even get a reply. So I'm just going to cancel this utter crap service that you provide.

I'm sorry you feel the need to post this kind of stuff. If you're unhappy with our product, then we can work out how to end our contract with you. If you don't want to PM us, then it's still pretty easy to do so in ClientZone.

You are welcome to PM me, if you can keep this conversation civil.
