I assume DNS problems aren't fixed yet? Have no connectivity (altohugh I also only have 1 bar EDGE) Damn MTN's signal in Linbro Park

The DNS issues aren't fixed up just yet :( Our Engineers have implemented a fix which we're monitoring. I'll update this thread as soon as I have more info.

So popped afrihost sim in my R201 router and configured googles DNS.

Wow!

Will try these settings on my afrihost mifi and see what it does.

WIll be driving home from Milnerton to Durbanville shortly and will be testing streaming radio

ok this is my experience.
at home:
mtn map shows full 3G coverage. the device shows red bars on its display. i can connect, but the web interface shows poor connection, 2G.
same device, with 8ta sim: same thing.
same 8ta sim in another device at home: 3G, 3 Bars on this other devices app.

at work, mate here next to me, has full 3G mtn signal.
same red bars at above with e5331 device.. but can connect and speedtest shows 50kBps download speed. sigh..
popped in the 8ta sim to the e5331, and spedtest shows over 400kBps download speed..

i have never seen the signal bars in any other color than red. werent they supposed to go green? atleast with the 8ta sim in?

what am I doing wrong here guys?
or is the mtn network that messed up for my specific locations (midrand and fourways should have TOP shelf signal btw..) or is the device somewhat.. faulty??

Afriman, what happens if we cancel. Does our SIM become deactivated? Does it remain active?

I'd like to know that, should I cancel for two months or so, I can quickly reactivate my SIM via the clientzone in seconds and not have to get a new SIM card.

Also, when cancelled, can we top up a gig @ R29 (or R99, whatever the rate may be) should the need arise?

I would like to know this as well.

Received mine today. Can ping an IP but DNS not working, any ideas?

If you cancel the SIM the data and SIM will become de-active. You can keep the MiFi device obviously and it'll still work.
Once you've cancelled the data you won't be able to top-up again on that SIM.

Hope that covers it :)

We're seeing some DNS issues on our network, this should start to become sorted out though.
Perhaps try and reboot the device and try again :)

Thanks, will try it again later today. Have rebooted a couple of times already.

And all of a sudden it's working... :)
