Hey guys

Just a heads up, the Afrihost online team will be taking a bit of a break. We're on holiday from the 21st - 29th December 2013.

Our support team will be happy to assist on 0116127200 or [email protected]. Happy Holidays!

Before you guys and Afrigirl disappear, any top-up specials in the pipeline for a solstice holiday bonus?

Received my afrihost mifi within 24hours of ordering. What a pleasure!!!! Never had anything delivered that quickly.
Keep up the great service

Afrihost is currently dead in my area. I wonder if they are working on the tower which will be great. However, I'm glad to say that I had an awesome Afrihost internet day! No packet loss and fast speeds. :D I hope that when it comes back online it will continue to be great.

Well I'm finally fed up with Afrihost. I have been very patient but nothing is working. I think I will avoid Afrihost in the future cause what they claim on the website in terms of service and product wise is NOT what you get at ALL......

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/578787-No-connection-on-LTE

Complained here and Afriguy said he will look into it. Nothing happened....

Complained here again and said he will make sure he look into it.... Nothing happened....

Emailed support on the Dec 4 and was told that its escelated to technical for investigation... Nothing happened....

Emailed support again on the 15th Dec and the same person replies with no feedback as yet... Nothing has happened again....

So basically I took afrihost up on their offer cause its affordable and I can use it with LTE. LTE has not once worked with their apn while it worked flawlessly with the mymtn apn.

I feel like I have been left out of pocket paying R145 for something I can't really use... I barely used any data. It would have served me better to take that money and buy the 1GB direct from MTN while its only 1GB compared to 5GB but atleast it will work with LTE.

My afrihost mobile data hasn't worked since Tuesday early evening. I get data fine on the mtn apn and nothing at all on the afrihost apn.

Works without fail on my iPad (LTE). My iPhone is another story though. Pretty much works all the time if LTE is switched off.

We've got 2 for 1 Mobile topup running at the moment :)
It's Sunday the 22nd right now. Saw this on the Afrihost homepage:
1.png

However, when I log in there's no such options available:

What's up with that?

Yeah, I'm wanting to top up with 1GB but it's not displaying the 2 for 1.

I'm hesitant to try it in case it doesn't double up 'cause it seems the Afrihost support guys that frequent MyBB have scuttled off on holiday.

EDIT

I mailed Afrihost after posting this, got this in reply:

Please proceed with the sign up and advise once it has been done.
I will arrange for the additional to be allocated to the account.

Looking forward to your valued response.

Thank you for choosing Afrihost.

Sorry we confused you :(
Our data isn't prepaid but rather a month - month service, no contracts though.

In order to have Mobile data on your phone you need to have an MTN contract SIM in order to use our APN, otherwise you can look at a SIM or MiFI device from us.
Hope that clears it up a bit :)

I did order a SIM, paid via EFT on 14 Dec 2013, I still don't see the payment as verified in ClientZone. Your guys said to me it should be delivered by Monday or Tues. I still did not get an email from the courier, so I hope they can deliver it by then, running on a few hundred megs here, waiting for the lekker 4 gigs to use :D

2 for 1 topup is not active on the website but I just topped up with 1GB and emailed support, they've doubled it so no worries.

I went ahead and topped up anyway thinking it might just not be displaying in my Clientzone, but I still never received double topup. Sent an email to query it and got this response:
Please note that the top up is a random special that our directors activate and deactivate at any time.

If you did not make the draw this time I will make sure I inform you next time is activated.
If it's on the homepage then surely it's still active? Meh.

Is the 2-for-1 topup still available? See nothing on Afrihost's website

Looks like it's been withdrawn - I managed to do a 2 for 1 topup shortly after 1PM, the offer was still up on the site at that time

Just ordered mine. Just a question, since it uses MTN's network, do you get the same speeds as when you would use an MTN simcard? The reason I'm asking is because MTN speeds are terrible at my house so I am worried about that.

Salvation would come in the form of LTE signal. There isn't a big correlation between MTN 3G and LTE. Do you have an LTE device you will be using? If not, then yes - you will have the same service as MTN at your house.

No unfortunately I do not have an LTE device. Luckily the Afrihost is only temporary. I'm testing it so I can decide which network to choose when my current contract expires.

How long does delivery take? Given that it is almost Christmas.

I ordered a new data SIM 2 days ago and it's out on delivery today.
