When I do that, I get No Coverage. What gets me is that a week ago, the coverage was excellent - it is almost as if 3G has been switch off on that tower. And I can't entertain the idea of demand as the signal remains EDGE through the night - like 4 in the morning still edge. Can MTN be asked to look into the tower? I had great use for the 3G but the edge cannot even download email without timing out.

That's the only issue with 3G only setting. you can't get continuous coverage. I use my Mobile Data a lot in the car so I definitely wouldn't use that setting.

Maybe we should log a coverage enquiry directly with MTN and see what they have to say?

I think so. I'm just killing a quick Guinness at Winstons which is maybe a kilo up the road and signal is excellent so I will check when I get there what the story is and take it from there.

How long does it take to get a sim, its been 5 days and only payment verified.

If you paid by debit order, it can take up to 5 business days in order to clear the payment. Once payment is verified, our warehouse then packs the order ready to ship. The courier should then contact you within 2 business days of that to arrange the delivery.

Thanks Afriman, so will this new sim be LTE capable?

A friend is considering signing up to the 2+2 package but is concerned about what will happen at the end of the month. Has there been any official word?

The Double Data promotion is guaranteed until the end of December, if you sign up before the end of July. After that, new signups will not get Free Data, but existing clients will get free data every month until 31 December 2014.

Anything signed up before 30 July gets the extra data until the end of December...

After that Afrihost will go back to the rabbits hat and pull out another winner!

Thank you both :)

My new order took 8 days in total, just as a guideline to others.

VISA, if memory serves. I did have to escalate clearance though as payment had already gone through 2 days prior.

The default will be whatever you have now - hard cap or auto topup. You'll have to opt in Out of Bundle and you'll be able to set a hard limit either so you don't spend more than you want to at any time.

Hmmm how do I do that? Just signed up with Afrihost mobile so not familiar with all the settings/lingo etc

Just go through to ClientZone and then click on Connectivity and the Mobile Data product and then click on the "TopUps and More" button to fiddle with Out of Bundle settings :)
