Switch on the vodacom connection and things are flying .

I'm sorry you're not getting the performance you expected. It obviously depends on where MTN's infrastructure is in relation to you. It might be worth logging a coverage query with them if you are meant to be in a strong 3G area or LTE and you are not getting the right service on your device :(

I live and work in the same street. My house is about 800 meters from work, the connection sucks at my home and at work. According to the Coverage Map I should be all green and flying all the way. Even my Blackberry on Vodacom has full 3G. So the excuse that MTN's infrastructure is too far away is poor to be honest.

I'm really not wasting my time in contacting MTN and trying to resuscitate a dead connection after waiting 2 weeks for the service. That's your duty. Not mine. I'll rather bin it and switch providers and save myself the grief.

If there is a tower issue, I don't know if it's an overnight solution, but I think MTN are pretty pro-active in sorting out their infrastructure in my experience. Please keep me updated so I can also follow up if you're not coming right :(

Still giving issues... specially with usb modem in router. Just doesnt want to connect. Phones connecting but signal is all over the place from gprs to 3g. LTE seems awol

Update: all sorted and working 100s again

Sorry that you're having this experience. I would definitely recommend that we raise a coverage query with MTN and see if they can investigate what happens to service after hours.

In understand your frustration, but I think it's important to be realistic. As the individual user, you have all the pertinent information to convey your individual experience. The only way a process like that can move forward is to report directly to MTN and give them the specific details from your experience.

I can understand if you'd rather not bother with that, but that is the only way I can help you. If you do decide to move forward, then drop me a PM and I'll give you all the details to log the query.

Ill copy&paste my pm here

Good morning

I would like to know what do you need to report a congested tower to MTN?

Over the last month my connection is fine the hole day but between 20:00 and 23:00 it slows down to about 10-50 kbps and I cannot use it then ( normal gaming time)

during the day I get 2 to 8 Mbps easy.

I can give you my gps/towerID? if this will help you

I'll take your word for it and try it. If MTN doesn't deliver though I'm canning this product. I'm tired of below par products and service.

There is no way to report a congested tower per se. But the coverage query essentially achieves the same result. MTN's team will come to your area and test signal in and around the location(s) you report and will determine if there is congestion. However, resolving it may not be a quick solution, I don't think upgrading a tower is a simple issue. But definitely making them aware of it is a good start

I reported it a while back to mtn 18-10-2013 with the help of you guys. Issue still the same.

its been more then 9 months now and still same issue that time of night.

This is a wonderful product and from your side I am getting what I want. I am pleased with the service and the product that you guys provide me with. But I am sorry you can't go tell people to report the problem to MTN it does not work like that, you will have to make a system so you guys can do it. Why? Well you are selling the product with your name on it. If it does not work 100% or at least 80% you just tell the people they will have to report it with mtn.

The problem I have done this and got 0% feedback. 9 months later, I don't have a clue if some one ever came to check the issue. I still have the pm's and everything. But like I said I am happy with what I got now but issues not getting resolved is a pain.

We don't have any authority or capacity to maintain or repair MTN's infrastructure, let alone upgrade it. The reality is that the feedback has to go via them. It is a similar issue to Telkom infrastructure. While we can report the physical line to the exchange, which essentially equates to a tower's function for mobile, thereafter the infrastructure and the management thereof is directly Telkom's domain. We can't tell Telkom which exchanges to upgrade and where to deploy new DSLAM's, we use their infrastructure to deliver a service, but we rely on them to provide and manage that infrastructure.
