If everyone of us, if possible decrease his package to 2-5GB and get this for downloads (Afrihost roams on MTN afterall). Afrihost should get the message.

Downgraded my 20GB package to 3GB.

Too bad that it is night time data only.
lol, 20GB lasts me till the middle of the month so I don't think I will downgrade to 3GB.

I was thinking about getting the 20GB package. Why are you guys downgrading, what's wrong with it?

70%+ of my package I use it for downloads (YouTube is a data hog). So why pay more day time if I can pay less than 1/3 on MTN for night time?

Hey - nice avator. Why'd you change?

I schedule a load of Linux ISO torrents at night when I am at my chick's place - stuff to [-]watch[/-] install the next day - on that Cell C 1GB but the signal always sucks. If I want to watch - ag, I mean install - something right now, I do it on the AH connection. AH really could benefit from similar midnight data. Well, the users anyways...

Change is needed :D

Well, they're (Afrihost) not willing to yield on the night time band wagon, granted, day time data, can be useful, if you want to download and install now, but 12 hours isn't much difference (we're talking about Visual Studio and the likes not VMWare here).

So solution for me is to lower my Afrihost package because I can wait for at least 12 hours.

We definitely get the message already that you're not having a good experience, and I am truly sorry about this. I do believe that the great majority of our clients are getting good experiences and value from our mobile products, and it's really important to us to identify clients who are not so we can try to return their pure internet joy :(

We do our best to avoid splitting day and night time data. We prefer to always give clients anytime data so that it's as simple as possible for them.

Obviously if you find a package that works better for you, then I understand. We would definitely like to keep you with us, but lots of companies are going to make specials that are really well suited for a specific type of client. That's why we try to steer clear of night time data and go for anytime data, so that it's convenient for basically all our clients.

Managed to stream the Bok game via Afrihost on Saturday. Went quite well and I was pleasantly surprised.

I bought the LTE device and im having some weird experiences with it.

When I leave the network connection settings to auto, the device will constantly have an issue with not finding a service. Its only at certain places that it will eventually settle on 3g. If however I manually set the connection to 3g Only then it stays connected most of the time. I work in 3 separate locations (fourways, Simmonds street and Samrand), now at Simmonds in town the connection is fine but as the day progresses it eventually gets to a point that I cant use it at all and have to use my cell c data sim. But my pings are working fine, no there just seems to be no throughput... At fourways the same happens, but it cant seem to stay connected (I physically see it battling on the 3g display). The only place I have decent connectivity is in Samrand, but that could just be due to very little congestion.

Another test I did was keep the device on me and see how it would handle driving through different areas. This went terribly, it was battling to find service most of the time. During this whole test I never connected to LTE once, but I don't know if this has been enabled or not...

If you haven't requested LTE to be activated on the SIM (if we issued the SIM) then we'll need to do that for you to get LTE service. The SIM must be 128k LTE compatible though.

PM me and I'll submit the request for you.

I have to give some credit here where credit is due. I downgraded my account from 10 GB to 5 GB on the 30th of the month. Even though the cut off date for it to take effect for the next month is the 25th, Afrihost (without my asking) added some credit to my account so that my credit card was only charged with the lesser amount, so I got the downgrade instantly instead of waiting a extra month. Well done Afrihost.

Anyone know if it's possible to add a mobile data package to the 1g promo data that comes with the zest? It works out a lot cheaper than having to top up?

Glad to hear you were delighted by your experience. It's what we aim for ;)

Unfortunately you can't upgrade the promo without losing the free data. You can upgrade to a different package, but you won't be able to go back to the free GB, as far as I am aware.

same on 3G/HSDPA

only time I get any throughput is on 2G but I don't need to tell you how slow that is! :p

Throughput and 2G can't be used in the same sentence, so I feel you :p
Drop me a PM with your info and I can take a look at things for you.

Try move the device around a bit too, or are the issues across different areas on what you've tried?

I had no throughput yesterday! I occasionally get the capped (effing irritating!), I just reset.
