I had no throughput yesterday! I occasionally get the capped (effing irritating!), I just reset.

Sorry about this :(
If you continue to see issues please drop me a PM so I can have a look at the reason for these errors.

After an infuriating month and a few weeks I have finally got rid of that pathetic AH mobile product I was battling with. I was about to complete the cancellation process as soon as I was on my new Telkom Mobile connection, but then I found someone that wanted to take the package of my hands.

It will be a personal agreement between us, because we are friends, but my Telkom Mobile Connection performs perfect in comparison to rhe junk I was stuck with. Even if I've only used it for a short time.

Restart connection.

Still the cap persists. Capped about 5 times today, different times of day.

Thanks I'll try that. Major pain in the butt when something simple doesn't work properly. If this is going to carry on, I'll be switching to another product, I don't need the hassle.

Good luck with yours.

Almost the sole cheap option. But there's TM 50GB for R999. 120GB for R1800. Cell C Giga 200.

Axxes Mobile, MWEB and Flow ISP don't come close to this.

We need some more competition from the prominent players.

At least MTN now offers 20GB (night) for R359. Some rattlings.

You're right of course - the main reason I got Afrihost Mobile is the price, but they did still have a lot of goodwill from years ago when I still had an ADSL line.

I just wish they could iron out their problems - it's not rocket science, and to have an issue like this dragging on for so many months and not to have a clue how to fix it speaks volumes. It's the sort of thing we've come to expect from their new shareholders, and not from Afrihost itself.

There have been hints and storys of cheaper mobile data for years and years, and every few years the big players will introduce a special for a while and we all think there's movement, but really, it's not a lot cheaper now than when 3G was rolled out on a wide scale. The amount of data they're selling has increased as more people battle with Telkom's failing infrastructure, and bandwidth needs increase, but the price of mobile data was pretty much stuck until Afrihost started their mobile specials. And now that they've taken away their two for one, you can't help but feel their gambit was a failure. When they started undercutting everyone on ADSL data a few years back, other ISPs followed and the nature of ADSL changed forever, with many ISPs introducing uncapped offerings. Unfortunately 3G didn't work out the same. Afrihost has had to stop offering their double data, and we're now pretty much back where we were (unless you've still got the double data special).

So much as I complain and threaten to leave, I suppose I'll stay because it's cheap. Even if the speeds are slow compared to a standard MTN SIM, and that they can't work out that still having data available should mean you're still allowed to download. And even if they don't have 24 hour telephone support. Well, nor does MTN, given that their telephone support is almost non-existent. At least on my MTN SIMs they just work once setup, so support isn't something I miss anymore.

Dear AfriGuy,

Please will you see if you can help with this Caller ID problem I have.

I have a T1 from Afrihost, it's working very well in general.
BUT it keeps defaulting back to Hide Own Number.

I can set it to Network Default, or to Show Number, which both send the number correctly, but after a reboot it switches back to Hide Number.

This is a pre-paid card, not a contract, if that matters. One sim is set to Hide number, as I want it, the other should be Show number, but this one doesn't stick. I've called MTN and set the network default to ShowNumber, and this works, but as you know, the phone can override this.

So after a reboot it switches back to Hide Number. This is a problem, I need it to send the number so people can see who's calling.

So to summarize: If the phone is set to Show Number or Network Default, after a reboot it switches to Hide Number.

Is there a firmware update that fixes this? (I'm on build 20140709 which says it's the latest).

I'm getting long stories from the email support, but not really helping, just pasting in simple answers like where to find the setting.
Can you tell me what to do next to solve this please?

Thanks! Thomas

Sorry that we were not able to provide the service you expected. If you need to have the profile transferred to the new person, drop me a PM so we can sort out the billing for you :(

What do you do to reset it? Mine's showing capped, whenive used less than a quarter of my bandwidth.

If you're getting the capped page, a system that was put in place should allow you to turn your device off for about five minutes and then reconnect normally.

If you still can't please PM :(

You know, seeing so many :( in a feedback thread does not instill confidence. Is there anybody that is happy with it?

We're definitely causing ripples in the Mobile Space. We still have double data available until the end of the year, and we've seen many other providers try really hard to match our prices. They say imitation is the best form of flattery, but the reality no-one puts their clients first like we do. We're even prepared to sell data at a loss (subsidised by our own marketing budget, etc) to ensure our clients get the kind of prices they should.

Whatever technical issues we may face from time to time, you can always trust that Afrihost will stay ahead of the pack when it comes to delivering joy to our clients :)

That's a pretty specific question, probably something best to post to Zest themselves. They may be aware of the issue, though this is the first time I am hearing of it. I know that some settings seem to apply to all SIMS, but you should be able to do this if Android allows it. I would say chat to Zest about it via their Facebook page. I believe they have a MyBB rep - handle is ZestMobile (AFAIK)

Sometimes you leave a 5GB ISO to download overnight, only to find out @ 70% it hit the infamous "capped" page, and then it's too late by then it downloads some data off that page.

BOOM! Download corrupt! 3.5GB gone! At least P2P isn't affected by this.

Does this also happen on a download manager?

That's definitely not cool at all. Do you not have ADSL to download with. Seems like an expensive exercise to use 5GB on a single download :(

Is there something special I have to do to get LTE working? Put my old sim card in an LTE device and only getting H as max
