Not great results here :(
Have you tried the device outside the house of even down the road?

Tried that but there was no significant improvement. I also tried to Skype with someone a few minutes ago and the connection kept dropping making it impossible to have a conversation. This was with voice only.

I was in Bellville today (+-10KM away from where I am currently) and the connection was fine. I was able to get 4Mb/s down and 2Mb/s up. What has changed in Durbanville over the past 1-2 weeks that has caused this?

Very odd, it could be a congested tower or even towers in the area :(
Has your connection previously been OK?

Can I use the afrihost sim with a mtn data bundle and then switch back to afrihost?

You can use our APN on your MTN contract SIM.
Not 100% what you mean around switching back to us?
I have an Afrihost provisioned sim and I would like to know if I can buy a mtn midnight bundle and use it for big downloads and then switch back to afrihost data.

So I have one sim card provisioned by you guys, can I switch between MTN data and Afrihost data on the same sim?

You'll need to add an APN to your MTN contract SIM, and alternate between the two APNs.

Yes, it was fine up until Afrihost made the announcement that they upgraded their infrastructure.

Is there anyone else here in CT, Northern Suburbs that's experiencing excruciatingly slow internet speeds or is it just me?

For the past week web pages take +-30 seconds to load or they timeout. I used to be able to play LoL with ~300ms ping but now there's a lot of packet loss and it's always jumping between 400ms-6000ms ping.

I'm in Durbanville.

^^That's supposed to be "3G"

Our IPC network has seen some upgrades, however this doesn't affect mobile connections.
Have you tried the connection in a slightly different area?

I think you're confusing our upgrades though, no major changes have been made to the Mobile network.
Sounds like there may be an issue with a tower(s) in the area.

Okay, great, I understand that they are unrelated.

I'm still experiencing a poor internet connection. Is there anything that can be done to restore my connection to what it was 2 weeks ago?

We'll need to run tests as to why the service has degraded, however this is mostly due to a congested/ faulty tower in the area.
Drop me a PM and we can look at a few options.

So December is around the corner I wonder what will be waiting for us :P

* Selected Mobile Data Packages get FREE Double Data on top of the normal monthly data allocation until 31 December 2014 at which point the offer will be revised or extended.

I am exactly in the same situation. East rand, filled forms heard nada, Afrihost asked for references which were given and still heard nothing again. Now I just survive from day to day as I gave up.

Same in my area , network service has gone from hero to zero in 1 month who wants to split costs on a billboard?
