I also can't open international sites for the last hour or so.

za sites are fine but hotmail, facebook even cnn.com etc don't open on Afrihost/Mtn - but they work just fine on vodacom.

Sorry about the poor experience this morning.

Seems like there was a problem on the core network affecting DSL and mobile international service.

We have resolved with MTN and it looks like everything should be up and running again as normal.

I'm truly sorry about the inconvenience and hopefully all will be 100% from now

We had a slight DNS crisis which caused the Afrihost website and Clientzone not to resolve. Everything should be back to normal again now.

That's a great question, you can use general NNTP services, though I reckon it might be an expensive exercise

If you mean using our news server, I'll need to check it out. My feeling is it probably won't.

I must admit, never tried it.
Setup a quick test though and it does work Deets as follows:

news.afrihost.co.za
No username/ password
No SSL
10 connections
Port 119
200 days retention

Axxess (with Axxess sim) though doesnt, seems you need user/pass for there news server

That's weird, but not sure if they are allowed to access our news server. I don't think we share the same IP ranges cos we're on different realms.
