Not in general, mine was fine over the weekend. I think it depends a lot on the area you're in and what's happening there.

Have you ever sent in a coverage form?

How do I do that? What needs to be done etc?

My Telkom sim with worse 3G signal was outperforming the Afrihost connection which has much stronger 3G signal.

Shouldn't be related, I think we use the same API into MTN, so if Axxess can't provision it, then we would be getting the same error.

Sounds like the problem is with Cell C porting, but can you also drop me a PM so I can check with MTN if all is correct on their side :(

PM sent. Hope I can get it sorted. Afrihost would be the best option as I can quickly top-up from the app and the clientzone is far better. (rollover would be a nice-to-have)

Very happy to report back that my provision is sorted now. Tip for future porters - if you Rica the sim right after buying it, and then port your number to it, you have to RICA again... Weird But true.

Thank you AfriMan and Blessings.M for your assistance

Confirmed that this is the normal process - something to do with granting an organisation permission to have your traffic on their network. New network, new permission.

Always happy to help wherever I can :)

Message I just received from MTN.

Good morning.
Kindly be advised that as per MTNSA policy the prepaid sim cards cannot be provisioned with this APN due to security reasons, This APN can only be provisioned on open line contract numbers .

Thank you

Hmm, that's weird - prepaid has been working for ages. In fact it was MTN changing their systems that made this possible. Maybe something got lost in translation here :(

Seems lots gets lost when dealing with MTN support, haven't been this frustrated in a while.

Gonna try RICA'ing the sim again later today and see if that fixes the problem, otherwise I'll have to move the line somewhere else.

Yep, dunno why you don't just get an SMS saying

"Hey Bub, you need to RICA, again, lolz, trolled."

That seems totally different to what the message says. If that actually works it will mean their notification was totally wrong. Let me know, I'll try and bring that to the attention of MTN management :(

We're seeing more people port over to MTN to use our data, so that's definitely some important info to be aware of. Glad we have this thread :)

Can confirm it's working after doing the RICA again.

Thanks Bufamotis
