MTN via 173 (sigh) and @MTNZA on Twitter plus complaint logged with ICASA. Hellopeter is also full of people with this issue!

That really sucks! If it's a widespread problem, I'm sure they are working on this. If I learn anything from my side, I'll update as well :(

Looks like Mobile users in the South may also be affected by the current outage.

Our team are working with MTN on this, we hope to have it sorted soon. There is no ETR currently :(

Some clients in the Pretoria area may not have LTE access at the moment. Changing to 3G will work for now.

We're investigating with MTN to find out what's causing the issue :(

Performance seems a little flaky on my AH APN.

Switched back to the MTN APN and all seems well - any known issues at the moment?

There was an LTE issue but should be resolved now. Affected both our APN and MTN's so it's probably not related. What area are you in? ^s

In Randburg at the moment - seems better now.

Might have been the LTE issue that was causing my issues - will keep you posted if it crops up again.

Sounds like an MTN issue though - do you have a non-Afrihost MTN sim just to test/confirm? If the MTN sim shows consistently better throughput then you could argue that it''s Afrihost shaping. Also, the 'tower' you were connecting to last month might be down now so that it is linking to another nearby, stuff like that happens.

Fourways would generally have good speeds, especially on LTE. Can you you check what network service you're receiving?

Its switching between edge, 3G and HSDPA, and all of them seem to be low throughput. Im having problems at home too, which is a different tower altogether, but I know that issue is MTN. Im not sure if its come right now and the problem is with my APN. I cannot run a speedtest on Edge now, but could earlier, and speedtest on HSDPA is getting 2.50mbps

Sounds like some good advice there :)

Just found out that it is an MTN issue as well, so no mobile internet at home and no mobile internet at work.

Will have to move to another provider :(
