I stupidly ported one of my numbers to MTN so that I could take advantage of Afrihost data!
All worked well until the first morning (and every morning since) when I get a MTNReward message at anywhere between 5.30am and 6.30am, which is not my idea of fun. This is in breach of the Electronic Communications Act, because MTN give no opt-out option in this message!
Having communicated with MTN (I use the term loosely) I was told to use *130*601# and when that didn't work to use *130*603# and you can guess, that didn't work either!
I looks like there is no one at MTN who can give a competent answer, so I have raised a complain with ICASA.
Do you guys know of any secret codes or do I have to port away again and give up on using Afrihost data on my handset?

When I ported my number to MTN it was primarily done so that I could get the benefit of Afrihost data! So, I recharged the SIM with a few hundred Rand and set up Afrihost data and all was great until the barrage of early morning SMS's started (some as early as 4.30am) and as outlined MTN have no clues how to stop said messages!
The fix was to simply recharge with R5 or airtime to satisfy MTN's greed to get money... Good doggy! Sit!!
No more SMS's since 10th - Obvious now, but it still does not explain why MTN don't know or why this cr*p is in breach of the law, so I've kept the ICASA case open.
