Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Supersonic will participate in Black Friday and that consumers can expect “a great home connectivity deal” - Anybody have any further details about this promotion or the Black Friday deal from WebAfrica?

Does anyone know what the story is with Afrihost with regard to RICAing with emailed statements? On their website it says:

"We CANNOT accept photocopies of your Identity Document or Proof of Residence without the ORIGINAL documents being present when receiving the SIM Card. "

However, I, like most people do not receive any "original" proof of residence documents, everything is emailed to me. So how am I supposed to provide an original of an emailed statement? @AfriMan ?

Print it out, it's original

There is a few things to take note of.

Axxess and Afrihost although they use the MTN towers uses their own network. If you do a trace route you will see MTN hand over the traffic to Afrihost and they feed it into their own network called Airmobile.

WIth Supersonic the exact same thing happens. MTN Mobile hands over traffic to Supersonic and since they are MTN and uses the MTN Business network for their fibre the fixed LTE gets fed in the MTN Business network for routing.

So they force Huawei routers?

Fck that. Won't touch mtn then.

Hi,
I coudn't agree more with you. I ordered my sim on 17th Nov 2019 and received it on 25th Nov 2019 inserted it into my Huawei B315s Router an I connected a half an hour later gaming and browsing the whole night long until early hours of the morning Later that morning i could not access the net And you All know how the story goes.My Response To Axxess

"Received sim on Mon 25th Nov 2019, inserted into Huawei B315 LTE Router and worked fine ,until the next day .Why cant I connect now"

I would like a solution to my problem and not excuses, and btw the Huawei B315 LTE Router is network approved
and what is wrong with quality and reliability of the Huawei B315 LTE Router
,since I and many countless people have been using it without problems.

What about your add/post on Google:

MTN Fixed LTE - Axxess

Nov 18, 2019 - The Huawei B315 LTE Router provides outstanding LTE network .... of the MTN LTE service is subject to RICA and you will be required to ...

Impressive speeds.

Not that it's any of my business - but why is your sis paying for 200GB capped fibre when uncapped is available for the same price?

From who? She checked out options when she signed up...think that was best deal then.
Anyway she's not technical so best let sleeping dogs lie.

+ she needs the consistency/stability of fibre for her work..online teaching.
It's a must these days,,,esp from Chinese companies.
Backup power needed too...v costly layout, but hey ho...

Ideally, you would need a document that is posted to you. Otherwise, you could get the emailed documents stamped by the company (like the bank) to prove that they are authentic.

My area doesn't even have postal delivery. Nothing will ever be posted to me. Even my bank accepts print outs of emailed documents for FICA purposes. I will just do as other's suggested and print it out.

I can't officially advise that you do that, but if you don't have other options, let's hope that the RICA agent concerned will be understanding.

I've RICA'd last 5 or 6 sims using print out. No problems.
