I just spoke to Afrihost support again who said to put the SIM in a phone and dial *991# to activate. However, that didn't work so they have now escalated to MTN.
Could someone please explain how fixed LTE location lock works? When I received the router I booted it up at my address to preconfigure the wireless network before taking it to the registered address. Could this have locked the SIM or something?
Much appreciated, thanks. It's unlikely to be locked so fast but please send me your email via a pm so I can check for you.
Much appreciated, thanks.
Many thanks. It's infuriating that Afrihost's best staff is hiding here instead of the normal channels. Next time I'm coming straight here.Sorted.
Sorry for the issues you experienced.

Now that my fixed LTE is up and running the mission to get it as fast/stable as possible begins
Right off the bat it doesn't look like my -100dBm signal strength is very good (4/5 bars on the ZTE). Downloads max out around 50Mbps, but more often around 30Mbps.
Would an outdoor LTE CPE make a difference and which ones available in South Africa are supported? Does it have to be on the "approved" list or will any Cat 6 LTE device work?
Hi, I hsve a ZTE628 router, is working very well. Get a -71dbm signal. However since Monday evening our MTN fixed LTE signal is down and it is still down. I am in Joubertina in the Eastern Cape. We had the same problen last week when it was down for about 22hours. Does anybody else has the same problem and what does MTN saying about it. This is bad, very bad.
Anyone experience Afrihost/MTN data issues in Rosebank Cape Town area?
I'm having endless issues for the past few weeks, with my Afrihost/MTN data connection (Rosebank, Cape Town) on the Afrihost fixed wireless service. Its super slow speeds at times - mostly evening. Goes up and down and sometimes completely dead. Have had no real support or resolution from Afrihost. It used to work well, and was fairly consistent.
Morning,
What router are you currently using?
