Thanks @BCR and @Magandroid for the useful tips

The Afrihost fixed wireless service is super slow and disconnects often. Has been really bad today and most of the week.
Is anyone having the same issue in Rosebank, Cape Town area?
Resets at Afrihost and restarts on my side make no difference. And Afrihost is not identifying the problem, or giving any feedback on action or resolution

Dear @AfriNatic
What is the policy/working around location locking?
On the Sign-Up page you get this:
Please note that your SIM card will be locked to the location you provide during the signup process. Your LTE services will only work at this location.
While on this page
https://www.afrihost.com/lte/
I see this:
Move connection easily
Changed your mind about where you want your study or moving house? Just pack your modem and plug it in at it's new location. Simple as that.
Can you clarify, please, because these are conflicting?
Thanks, is the lock location estabelished on "first connection" or address given?Hi,
The MTN sim is location locked but should you need to move the device to a new location please send @Afrigirl a pm and we can update the location for you.
With Telkom LTE there is no location locks.
Thanks, is the lock location estabelished on "first connection" or address given?
Hi, please drop me a PM with your account number or email so I can investigate furtherIs anyone else also experience super slow Afrihost/MTN connection in Rosebank, Cape Town ?

Hi, the LTE coverage map is based on data supplied both by Telkom and MTN. You may using the following link to confirm LTE coverage in your area for MTN https://www.mtn.co.za/Pages/Coverage_Map.aspxI was on Afrihost MTN fixed LTE until a few months ago.
Generally got up to 45 Mbps down / 45 Mbps up with around 25 to 30 ms latency, and incredibly stable connection, even after load-shedding (a full 5 bars on B525 immediately).
Out of interest, put my address in just now to check on possible changes to options / pricing (which I do periodically) and suddenly, defaults to only Telkom LTE on offer (which I'm currently on through Axxess, anyway).
I checked the same on Axxess' website, and also, suddenly 4G / LTE is no longer available in my area through them.
But neither is Axxess / MTN 5G.
My question is therefore this :
Is it MTN colluding with Afrihost and Axxess (owned by Afrihost) to take away the option of even choosing LTE / 4G, so that when they turn on 5G, all I (and many others?) can get is 5G at a far higher price?
How can a service that worked so well only 3 months ago (or even less) suddenly not even be offered as an option?
I'm not necessarily looking to get it again, but want to understand the reasoning behind why it's been taken away?
I don't believe MTN don't offer it anymore in my area ; BTW, Afrihost mobile on MTN still working perfectly well here, and have another MTN SIM for calls working with perfect reception, so there must be some "behind the scenes" going on between Afrihost & Axxess, at the very least, assuming no MTN involvement.
I appreciate the reply, and for what it's worth, I put my address into the MTN link.Hi, the LTE coverage map is based on data supplied both by Telkom and MTN. You may using the following link to confirm LTE coverage in your area for MTN https://www.mtn.co.za/Pages/Coverage_Map.aspx

There is a large number of sites currently down stretching from PE to Limpopo. MTN is working on the issue.
