Afrihost New Network Feedback

I've done enough trouble shooting to know the problem. The problem is the AH international connectivity.
Local is always perfect: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4839372999
International on the other hand is never consistent. Can see it on FTP downloads but more frustratingly when watching Twitch. Kind of hoping pointing out the issue when it happens would help.
So for example today at 13:28 I went from streaming source perfectly all the way down to medium (even that is actually buffering.)

There definitely shouldn't be any international throughput issues, all looks healthy from what I can see.
Can you let me know what your throughput is like to this file please?

Latency is OK, and your line has more than enough throughput to see stable streaming.

Do you have anything to monitor your latency/ throughput to specific sites?

I have a tool to see throughput for the devices on the network. Big difference between what it is now vs 15min ago.

Are these both off the same stream?

Not familiar with the tools that are being used here, but is there a way for you to determine which destination you're pulling content from?

Definitely interested in taking a look at some more results here! If you do see this again check that ISO file too as a comparison for throughput.

But from the 1st of December all capped packages are doubling in size.

So am I correct in assuming that if I have a 300GB package and sign up for Afrihost Plus I will get double data? Being 600GB?

Ok so the 2TB Package is R3999 which is becoming a 4TB Package
Add Afrihost Plus and you have 8TB for R4098.
That works out cheaper for my needs than having uncapped.


Every time I look I see the Concurrent Connections on capped accounts drops.

It was 10 in Jan, 6 in June now 5?

Not really doubling in size from what they are - the double data promo is being made permanent. So instead of ending the promo, your account will see double data permanently going forward.

If you currently have a 300GB + 300GB account, it'll essentially be a 600GB account going forward, permanently. If that makes sense?
Midnight data should already be applied to your account too

If you add Afrihost Plus+ into the mix, then you'll have 600GB + 600GB.

If your general download speeds are good, there is no reason why Steam downloads from a local cache should be slower. Were you definitely pulling from local? Any tests that I can look at?

I posted my speedtest which is fine. I have my Steam set to Johannesburg (double and triple checked and even changed it to Cape Town).

My download finally finished - and I quit the Steam client and restarted it. I am now currently trying to download a new game for testing - (Castle Crashers) - and it is now at a whopping 129 BYTES a second....

Speedtest done at the same time : http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4839526940 (3.44Mb/s down and 0.42Mb/s up).

I have changed my account from the "Afrigreen" one to the normal Afrihost one and still no change.

Getting intermittent connectivity. When I checked the Client Zone tool, I was getting low SNR (5.5). We had a Telkom guy up the pole in our yard this morning, he may have fiddled with the line and caused the extra noise. I've just logged a fault - let's wait and see.

so if i had 10 + 10, and i sign up to Plus, i would get 20 + 20? But then cost wise, that would mean i would be paying R49 + R99 = R148.. am i right in saying that? meaning that from a cost perspective, i am over paying?

It should be only Twitch in the previous images. Fortunately it's still currently working perfectly
