Wonderful speed here in Maritzburg as well, 0.88mbps on 4mbps line, 200+ latency locally. Boy, am I ever so happy that I didn't switch over to a different ISP two months ago... :(

Exactly the same here.

The MTN network has erectile dysfunction. Afrihost, either get a new boyfriend or some better viagra.

Thankfully I have a backup Telkom account and no problems there at all, which also shows the problem is not the local exchange.

Also in Durban, also getting dial up speeds. This is unacceptable for a weekend.

LaraC keeps rubbing it in...how awesome AH is to her:whistling:
If I’m not mistaken this thread is about feedback on the new Afrihost network. I don’t think it is limited to pointing out network problems.

The annoying thing is that they are also managing my line. I tried to get it reverted back to Telkom about two months ago, and I was told it would be put back into the pool. Unfortunately, this would apparently have meant a week or two without connectivity. So I cancelled the transfer just so that I could continue having internet.

So it seems that I'll just have to let Afrihost manage my line while I go with Vox or something for data. Silly.

Really great story. Meanwhile people in the East have to sit with crappy internet.

Speeds in Durban back to 4.86Mbps. Yesterday was a shocker. Now was it month end congestion, a fault, lack of capacity, Telkom, run out of awesome sauce, or what?

Considering my Telkom ran at full speed I would say the problem rested solely with Afrihost and their network. Be nice to get a report on what the problem was. Transparency and honesty always works.

I use MTN Frontrow as I travel a lot and get free streaming data on my MTN sim card. When I try to stream on Afrihost ADSL, it gives me an error that says that "MTN FrontRow is not available in your location". I would assume that this is an Afrihost issue?

Thanks for any feedback.
