Thanks. According to the coverage map, OpenServe is not currently interested in our area for fibre so I won't hold my breath. I am expected to be excited that my area is covered for 10mbps ADSL - if only this was something that could actually be used. You would think that Telkom might recognise a congested exchange as an indicator of demand in an area, but apparently not so. My only hope is that fibre will reduce some congestion on the Exchange so we might get a decent service one day. Fortunately my area is a target for at least 3 alternative fibre providers and they seem much more proactive than OpenServe. I don't hold any sympathy for Telkom if they are slow off the mark and as a result lose significant market share, because I will probably sign with the first fibre provider that can physically connect me.
This is the first I have learned of Afrihosts alliance with OpenServe as stated on their website “Afrihost has a strong relationship with Openserve, bringing Openserve's vast infrastructure to the market, complemented with Afrihost's famous client service." Interesting.
