Afrihost New Network Feedback

Seems to be a general theme. Also struggling my side. East Rand area.

Same here - East Rand guy :)

Except my latency spikes on the AH network is virtually permanent atm (was worse on the AfriGreen and improved on the new AH network, but still a bit frustrating for any gaming venture).

Yep - I passed them similar test results last week before my switch to WA (showing rampant latency on the AH account) and after the switch ran exactly the same tests on my WA account and passed the results on to the CC team as well (this time reflecting a near perfect connection).

I was told that the results would be passed on to the AH network guys for review ............ and that is kinda where it died off :(

A day or two ago, CC contacted me and asked about my connection - I told them it was awesome, albeit on the WA account :D and that I am somewhat reluctant to switch back to my AH account, as my gaming was Ace and torrents were flying :p

Anyways, being comitted to resolving the problem, I did commit to switch back to AH and run some tests ....... the results you saw in my previous post (I also passed it on to the CC folk, as the ticket is still open).

Coolios, you're in really good hands with our Critical Care team. Please keep chatting to them - they'll definitely get things sorted out for you.

I feel your pain - my spikes coincided with some MS updates etc. so I wrote it off on that, but now there is nothing running and I am still struggling. :(

I'd definitely like to see a test or two from a backup ISP, maybe give the Telkom guest account a bash?

But it is a very long and time consuming path - been on AH's case since mid 2015 about my lag spike issue .......... and with the latest news from Gian that only the "big capped broadband users will get something", I am seriously getting more and more disappointed.

I know I did say to AfriMan some time back that I will stick it out and not surrender .............. but it is getting tougher to keep that promise.

I'm still trying to understand, how the data of a different isp could make a difference. If you are using the same line, shouldn't that be the critical bit for any performance related issues? Or am I missing something here?

Hey all

Our MyBB and Social teams are signing off for our annual staff party now.
Support will be available via [email protected] and SMS on 32541.

We'll be back on Monday morning, have a good one guys!

In some cases, a general fault along the network could cause issues (hence switching ISP's would improve performance). Most of the time, however, there is something astray with the user's last mile.

Nope. Local server. Speed has been fluctuating all day today.

Enjoy the party. Hopefully weekend won't have any issues.

Don't know if you're a windows user, but all your windows PC's would have pulled 3GB each today in updates. Probably less (due to them sharing the update locally), but it's something that might cause what you're seeing :)

My windows updated around 4am. All updates were done by about 12pm when I woke up.

Well, that's not it then :D

I'm now out of ideas.

Z :)

haha :)

Yeah. Seems reasonable now. Just some browsing issues but very periodic. Don't have any streaming to do so don't think it'll be too detrimental for now anyway. :)
