Just a quick question. If I cancel my Afrihost account before the 25th, I'll still have access till end of the month but won't get charged the following month?
Did you know that you can also put your account on hold? It is a better option than cancelling your account. :)

That's correct! :) You'll need to cancel before the 23rd though...
 
Anyone who says AH is currently rubbish is a complete idiot.


Since the new network i've rarely had major issues.
 
Since when has it been the 23rd? It's always been before the 25th.

I believe we're looking at changing the dates. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we have started to recommend the 23rd to clients. :)

I don't know if you can put it on hold for so long but you do not pay when it is on hold. :)

You can only pause your account for a maximum of 6 months, unfortunately. :( But, to answer your question, this will pause billing as well.

That's a long time to be going away for! Good luck with whatever it is you're doing! :)

Luckily it's pretty easy to sign up again! :) Your ClientZone will still be active.

Perhaps consider downgrading to a free 1GB account in order to keep your existing details active.

Yeah that's not a bad idea actually. Might consider doing that :)
 
Every email account on my email hosting package was just deleted, and I can't restore them using either cPanel or the Clientzone.

This is the error message:

The accounts didn't use even 10% of the disk quota, and the amount of traffic was minimal. This is killing me.

Edit: Support got back to me. Server failure apparently. Up and running again.

Glad to hear it got resolved. Sounds like it got pretty hairy for a bit there :(
 
my AH account has been much better Afriguy. i was off yesterday sick, but i have a feeling that mornings and Afternoons are alot less congestion, as my ping dropped from its usual ugliness of 400ms to about 102ms. My downloads were around 3.2mbps, and up around 0.43mbps.

i had Telkom arrive at my place about 5 mins ago, without warning. They checked the line, said things were fine(didnt expect anything else from them), but they said they would pass it onto some other department for further checks.

Glad you're seeing an improvement, although 100ms latency is still a little high :(
Did you show Telkom previous results taken from the evenings? You're right - congestion will be most obvious in the evenings when everyone returns from work.

yeh the latency is still a bummer. I wish i could show them, but they pitched up, and im at work. I had to ask the missus to let them in, as she was a bit worried. Telkom for you hey, because one would assume a call or sms before the pitch up.

no i logged it :) I didnt expect you guys to log it, as my line is with Telkom, so didnt want you guys to take responsibility for it

Ah OK.
You may get an SMS from Telkom if they think it's resolved - just reply NO and they'll re-check things.
