I want to upgrade my free 1GB account to a 100GB capped account at R199.

This is the pro-rata message I receive in the Clientzone:

Is this correct? Will the data expire end of next month?

That looks very wrong. I see you did manage to get the upgrade going with more realistic results, but I'd love to get to the bottom of this :(

Drop me a PM if you can :)

It's for my sister who's moving in to a new place so no history of her usage really, but her main use will be streaming, she's not getting DSTV. Based on my usage I guess that she'll be using less than 100 GB per month, maybe I should just start her off with 50 GB capped then see how it goes?

Remember you can also get Double Data with Afrihost Plus+, so maybe also factor that in. Always good to have extra data rather than need to topup, but it's handy having the 2 for 1 topups :)

Fault logged .... thanks

Last Result:
Download Speed: 462 kbps (57.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 95 kbps (11.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 301 ms
Jitter: 387 ms

Glad to hear you got the fault logged. Hope Telkom can sort this out for you :)

Sounds like the dreaded ASSIA demon.

Not necessarily, remember that ASSIA changes your profile completely, but your latency should improve if anything. If you do a line test in ClientZone and you are definitely geting a consistent result that looks like another profile (like 1024, 2048, 3072 , etc)

All seems normal. Can you do a speedtest and traceroute so I can get an idea of what your experience is like?
Just finished rebooting the router. I know you didn't want to say it but it seems to have sorted out the issue. Thanks for following up, AfriMan.

Good to hear! :) If there is any change please let us know!

Definitely not looking so good. Have you run a traceroute?

I did not and not at home to do so now. Is there anything you can check out on my account without that information?

We can check on the basic condition of the DSL line and account, but to really figure out what the cause is, we'll need a traceroute.

The latency I'm getting right now is incredible. Why can't it always be this low?

A few milliseconds down from the usual 19-20ms makes a huge difference for web browsing.

(Download is reduced because of LAN limitations)

anybody know, why my ip shows Gauteng and not Cape Town? is this normal

169.1.144.148

DNS

169.1.2.2

should i worry about this?

Depends what is inducing the additional latency. On our side it could only be demand but we're definitely not seeing any congestion on our network in general at the moment. What do traceroutes show?

Explain what you mean by your IP showing Gauteng? Where are you checking for this?
I checked via ipleak, got the link off johnatan on here :D not sure how accurate it is, But the info it gave was spot on in terms of which device I'm using etc.

The only thing which caught my eye was the above, which said I was in Gauteng. Unless this has got to do with which the laptop is set via regional settings. I'm not sure, or if that ip and DNS are correct
