The problem is that when a user has a problem, they will post immediately on MyBB. When we pick up an issue, we first test, contact our upstream providers to try to ascertain the possible cause and severity of the issue before we can update the website and send out an alert. We're working on being faster to the draw in every area we can, but ultimately it's unlikely that we could ever beat the first complaints to the public if we are to do our jobs in the right way :(
To be honest it's always been like that, as the users are normally the ones who pick up an issue 1st.

It's the same in our area which is cell phones, where an update to the OS or Firmware/software brings bugs with it, which is normally only picked up at end user 1st. Then a fix is put in place. Both Google and Apple are aware of these things only after it is reported. It's a tough one to know, unless you have somebody employed to just sit there opening up sites for the entire day, which is impossible

news.afrihost.co.za is also not working for me. Initially I was getting an error message of "Invalid Server" when I tried to test the connection in SABNzbd. Now the server is timing out for me. Ditto for XSUseNet.

Remember that we use an Amsterdam upstream provider, so it's possible that we're not able to link to them as normal. Let's let the lads do their thing and I'm pretty sure this will get sorted as well :)

We actually picked it up on our side before the first reports came in, but like I said, we were troubleshooting first before we posted a notice.

We use the same DSL network and mobile products as clients for this exact reason :)

International servers such as websites and hosted Usenet servers are completely dead now.

No worries, AfriMan; I'll be patient. I know that your team are on this.

Youtube 4k working currently for some reason? At lease i have MKBHD and Linus to watch. :) Do you think it is seacom or WACS again?

Yes but it's a very small chance that it always gets picked up by the providers. Unless its a major issue, it always gets noted by the end user 1st, who then logs a fault report and a fix gets put in place.

But anyway dude, work time now for me. Hope it gets sorted soonish :)

Standard Bank has issues though, yesterday it took about 10 minutes to load... Doubt it is Afrihost.

Very true, users are a very important link in the chain :)

Have an awesome day at work!
