Afri people, any update on this reference AH20160506-275220? how long still?
Anyone else experiencing very slow steam downloads? Everything ran full speed till about 20min ago. Everything else on the net works perfectly fine.
Looks like it's gone through, line's on a 10Mbps profile![]()
*jumping for joy* must have happened in the last 30 minuts, when I rebooted just now it synced at the higher speed.
But, but, but now starts the fun with Telkom and Assia, modem shows upstream 1018 and downstream 8231, so clearly I'm not getting 10 MB more like 8 MB. Question is if I now downgrade to a 8 MB line will I still get 8, or will they then only give me 6 MB?
Morning
Sorry to hear you're seeing a poor experience with us.
Not aware of any overall issues that could be causing this - we'll need to run over some tests to see where the issues are. Have you been able to run any troubleshooting with our team yet?
Not sure if you're running via ASSIA, the stats seem to show that a stable sync is 8249kbps - if you move down to 8Mbps you'll probably get better stats![]()
Surely this as my first speed test on a 10 MB line is totally wrong?
Download Speed: 3935 kbps (491.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 390 kbps (48.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 43 ms
Jitter: 5 ms

Heya
It is a little hard to run the troubleshoot when it only seems to be specific international services and only for 2 or 3 hours each night so far for 2 weeks roughly, and switching to another ISP Account makes the issue go away. Colour me confused
However I did just get a random SMS from Failkom today... "Telkom is upgrading infrastructure in your area for an even better service experience, Your services could be interrupted during this process and a stabilization period of 48 hours may be experienced. Telkom is committed to keep the service interruption to a minimum. For more information.... BLAH BLAH BLAH"
Firstly unless its Fibre... pfffft. Secondly better infrastructure... yeah rightI hover at an SNR of 6.5 @ 10MB which is borderline and they say I can only have 4MB so... the fact that I have 10MB proves that wrong.
Anyway I will report again tonight if I have the random international slowdowns: I can pinpoint what was an issue:
Origin: Login = Fine / Download = Fail
Steam: Login = Fine / Download = Fine
Blizzard App: Login = Fine / Download = Fine / Microsites = Fail / Ping = Fine
The Divison = Semi-Fail
TeamViewer = Fail
Outlook.com = Semi-Fail
Facebook = Semi-Fail
XBOX Live: Login = Fine / Store Download = Semi-Fail / Pings = Fine
Star Wars Battlefront: Game Browser = Semi-Fine / Ping = Yeah pretty normal
Google Services: Seemed Fine
DSTV Explora: It seemed chilled doing HD and SD videos from Catchup
iTunes: It was not happy
Everything else just seemed fine.
Started around 8pm-ish and around 10:30pm it seemed happy again. Oddest thing.

Assuming your line is on 8Mbps, you should be getting closer to 5,8Mbps to 7,2Mbps. Are you consistently getting in the region of those speeds?
My line is on 8 MB though I actually pay for 10, and yes I'm still getting round the same speeds, nothing above 4.5 download and 0.5 upload.

I know you've probably already PM'ed AfriGuy, but you can please send me your details quickly.
Not aware of any overall issues on Steam - are you having issues downloading content or connecting in general?
What are your router stats saying?
You would want modulation mode on ADSL2+, fast path. If you are being forced to G.DMT ask telkom to change the profile and redesign the port.
Post your stats on here or PM.
