Router says upstream 1018 downstream 8249
Modulation type set to ADSL2+
Annex type set to annex A
Enable bit swap is ticked and enable SRA is also ticked.

But getting this speed test
Download Speed: 3903 kbps (487.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 388 kbps (48.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 40 ms
Jitter: 3 ms

SNR and line attenuation?

SNR and line attenuation?

SNR up 6.1, down 6.1
Line attenuation up 18, down 32

When my line was still on 4 MB line attenuation was the same, SNR down stream was also the same, but SNR up use to be higher I think like 19.

SNR is low for a 8Mbps sync. A higher sync speed would push your SNR lower making your line unstable in my opinion.

I was on that site last night though and it claimed all was well.

Steam store not loading again - going to test on other ISP now - steam stats page claims everything is online.

Same happened to me, I reset the router completely and reconfigured it, and also set my ip to dynamic, and it all seems fine now. store working and downloads going full speed

I'm currently paying for a 10 MB line but only getting 8 MB speeds, by the sounds of it I might as well downgrade my line to 8 MB, I'm just scared that Telkom then further mess it up and only sync me at 6.

It seems something weird is going on every evening on steam and resetting your router fixes it. I just now changed isp account to different ISP (from afrihost) and steam worked, switched back to afrihost and it works so I assume whatever the issue is that reconnecting seems to resolve it.

If you change to 8 your actual speeds will be around 6. Check your PM, go that route first and if you still can't get the sync at a stabile 10 then I would suggest dropping.

For now my first mission is actually just to get speed tests above 4MB down and 0.4 MB up, my actual speeds is still as if I'm on a 4 MB line.

I have a 10Mbps line too and this is what I usually get. :)

Edit: Seems MyBB is broken again. I can't upload a speed test. :(

Have recently switched to Afrihost - so far it's been fine but now I have a problem.

Been trying to watch TV via ATV which requires internet access to iTunes.

Last night and now tonight from just after 7pm Apple TV can no longer access iTunes - last evening this lasted till about midnight.

I still have internet access via the pc and seem to be able to get to all sites.

I have switched my router to 3G failover via MTN and the Apple TV is instantly back to normal.

What is happening with Afrihost this time of day ?

Nope, doesn't work on Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer.

AH the last time we saw download issues across multiplied protocols you had serious IPC issues. This is starting to look all to familiar.

My app updates on iOS are running just fine as per the 4 MB speeds I'm getting, I'm also on capped.

I personally think whoever Afrihost uses for international connectivity is to blame. All local traffic is fine. But once you try to access international services everything goes to hell. Just looking at the large number of hops in trace routes vs other ISP's is astounding.
Mweb to Sipgate.de is 11 hops
IS to Sipgate.de is 10 hops
Afrihost to Sipgate.de is 30 hops

Yet tomorrow we will be led to believe everything is peachy on the network when clearly there are multiple issues being reported.
